Where is the AIT kept when not in traffic? and is there any way of seeing 3079 in Lillie Bridge depot from the outside?

Can I put in a polite request that no photos are posted of 3079 while in Lillie Bridge please? Don't want to make it easy for the local graffiti artists by telling them exactly where it is...! Obviously I have no objection to them being posted once it leaves the depot, either as a four car or in the 6-car AIT AIT is kept on Road 1 at Northfields Depot. Regards, Dan

I don't tend to publish photos if the subject of the photo is 'at risk' from anything, 3079 is my favourite 67TS so I like to get as many photos of it as I possibly can. Thanks for the help. Just one further thing, is 3079 going to be converted for AIT duties at Lillie Bridge, or elsewhere?

Less worried about Northfields as there are staff carrying out maintenance at night as a deterrent The new cars will eventually get repainted but for the temporary formation and the various braking and operability tests we will leave them in London Underground livery. We'll even leave the last day poster in 3079! Formation likely to be: 3213 - 4213 - 3179 | 3079 - 4313 - 3313 Reform location still to be determined as has the overhaul location (both motor cars need an HO) and the conversion location. Basically we have sufficient life left to prove the 6-car formation as a host train before doing the long-term work to allow them to operate as part of the AIT. Regards, Dan

I'm guessing the trailer cars 4079/4179 will be scrapped afterwards. I look forward to seeing 79 back in action

Just found myself in the Acton area, and decided to walk as much of the perimeter as I could in search of 67TS, I found a few nestled round the back of the works with a 4 car A set for company. I couldn't see numbers, but I noticed that one of the 67 sets has been sprayed half the length of the set (2 cars). I was under the assumption that Acton was a secure site?

Probably the RAT, most likely 5234-5235. Could be in a 5 car formation unless 6036 is undergoing attention.

On 14/7/11, 5110-6110-6132-6111-5111 (to be the second RAT) was complete and together on one of the outside roads as a 5-car.
Inside the workshops was 5234-6234-6036-6235-5235 (the first RAT), split up with work being done on 6036.

A five coach it must have been then. I couldn't see properly, but it was too short to be an 8 car, so I was just presuming it was a 5 car. Earlier this afternoon, 3060+3061 were on road 40 at Northumberland Park.

It was indeed a 5-car!
3060+3061 are expected to remain at NPD until around October - the current plan. Things may change of course.

Earlier this afternoon, 3060+3061 were on road 40 at Northumberland Park. 3060+3061 are being cleaned for the presentation of the cheque to the Railway Children from the railtour back in May. The presentation is taking place tomorrow afternoon.

Ah right. And the aforementioned A stock I saw was headed by DM 5111 carrying 'special' in the destination blind.

Saw 3058/4058/4158 at Eastleigh yesterday (all uncoupled), they are clearly visible from Campbell Road as you go round the bend after crossing the bridge (down side of the main line). 3158 was on the adjacent line and also of note former London Overground unit 508301 still in brandless Silverlink livery was behind the tube cars. Couldn't see the A stock anywhere though.
I have got pics, but for obvious reasons will not post them yet.

Do they go to the M4 EB/M27 Clockwise/M3 SB/M27 EB/Wide Lane and Southampton Road, Eastleigh? They would have to turn round by Eastleigh station roundabout I would guess so that they could access the roadway (Campbell Road) and bridge over the main line. Or they could come off the M3 at the Otterbourne turnoff and then go southerly to the station roundabout and then straight in. maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Southampton+Road,+Eastleigh&hl=en&ll=50.965184,-1.351275&spn=0,0.052142&sll=50.953552,-1.360784&sspn=0.001514,0.003259&t=h&z=15&layer=c&cbll=50.965292,-1.351229&panoid=-i8js-Q-6DTjH1ltISRO7Q&cbp=12,30.95,,0,6.82

My guess would be Otterbourne and then down the Twyford road into Eastleigh. Negotiating Campbell Road bridge must be b***** tricky!

They would have to turn round at the roundabout anyway, even if they could physically make the turn as there is no right turn in to Campbell Road from Southampton Road (and respectively no left turn from Campbell Road in to Southampton Road).

L T stock for the Isle of Wight used to get to Eastleigh by > > RAIL!! I know one set to the Isle of Wight went - W.Ruislip to B.R. > Greenford Loop > (allegedly W. Drayton > Staines via old connection to the Southern, although l have doubts about this bit - l think it went via Clapham J.) > on to the Southern's S. W. division and then on to Eastleigh.
Allegedly, that is now more expensive than using low loaders with police escorts. IF it is more expensive, it shouldn't be.

It probably is more expensive. When it was BR it would be tons cheaper, for several reasons!
Now, there's track access charges by Network Rail to all operators. Diesel fuel is more expensive Maintenance costs more Wages are higher All other costs are higher and not to forget, for the most part, rail is run for profit than customers these days - hence you (don't) get open access operators where there is(n't) money to be made... *cough*WSMR*cough*

plus innumerable "Elf 'n safety" outriders.
For each single carriage.
Yes, the most expensive way every time. It also keeps the unemployment figures down AND diverts the police away from catching muggers etc, (much nicer to get motor cycle escorting a convoy duties out in the country and being paid for it than sitting in a smelly cop shop, waiting for a 'shout').
