What happened to the rat? ;D ;D Stored in Acton Works until the autumn. You're not the only one that seems to have confused the RAT and seaeagle's tripping rat!

Well I suspect I have had my last 67TS haulage. I was travelling from Leeds - High Wycombe on Friday and back again Sunday. Went looking for 67s at about 16.40 and had 3178 northbound from KX - Highbury. The motors on the rear car appeared to be cut out as no noise from them and performance of the train was very sluggish. I thought that was my lot and a sad way to finish. However, on my return on Sunday, I had not factored in the Circle/Met closure, so had to go Marylebone-KX via Oxford Circus. Amazed that there are still booked workings for 67s at non peak times and what should roll in but 75+78, with 3178 apparently restored to full health. So my unexpected final ride was in a set that was fully functional and so I could enjoy all the 67 noises in full for one last time. I don't live in London, and will not be back down until late June, so I guess for me that is it. I shall very much miss them Friday 1st July is the last possible day for the 1967 stock. Whether they decide to keep one or two running until then is the question.

I am rather hoping that two cars of 67TS will have an active future of at least 20 years. But a lot of t's to be crossed and i's dotted before that happens!
Regards,
Dan

Well so far only two cars have made it in to preservation, both driving motors. There is 3016 which is still in unrefurbished condition but in quite a bad way after its shunting accident at Northumberland Park Depot, currently at the Pump House Museum in Walthamstow. The LTM has refurbished driving motor 3052 which was the car that Her Majesty travelled in back in 1969. Neither are in working condition.

There is a suggestion on the GM's blog that the 67TS may go early, earlier than 1st July, to allow the 09TS' regenerative braking to be introduced and tunnel temperatures reduced; even if this results in peak hour calculations.

I'm assuming you mean cancellations not calculations ;-)
To one extent, that makes sense - reduce the tunnel temps before the hot summer period - however, has the regenerative breaking been tested on the trains on the line before?

Speaking of scrap, I am hoping to see if I can buy off one of the traction motors from Booths so I generate the engine sounds for the virtualisation of the tube stock.

Antje how would you be able to power the bloody thing?! I would suggest a good sized transformer; unless you are only going to spin it mechanically. It isn't easy, doing something like this - I've converted a lathe from 3-phase to single phase and I've got vague memories of doing the same for a spark eroder.

You won't get the noise without the wheelset geared to it. Most of the noise is from the gears. In any case, I doubt you'd be allowed to buy the motor. If a full voltage was applied to it without a load on it, it would try to run up to infinite speed. The armature would explode before you got there. Very dangerous.

Oh well, I'll have to refer to my video footage but at least I have a sound editor on standby.

The spreadsheet will need to be updated as 3016 has now been scrapped on site at Walthamstow Pump House.

Saw 34+85, 75+78 and 59+79 out today.
This evening 59+79 (train 247) were taken out of service at Brixton and ran North out of the station empty, i never saw any more 67s as soon after the service was suspended due to a signal failure at Seven Sisters.

Had a result today, thought I would detour to Brixton on the way home, got on at Vauxhall and first southbound (already in the platform as I came down the escalator) was 3060/3061, stayed on it at Brixton and went all the way to Walthamstow, as it pulls in at Walthamstow, 3049/3005 was in the other platform so rode that back to Highbury!

Seems like they're trying to maximise the usage of the 67s this week - I wonder if this means anything...?

A driver said to me yesterday thats it a possibility that after Friday there may not no more 67ts, as people are worried that a 67 stock may be signalled wrongly into platform 3 which will completely muck up the service The lines managers would be prepared to cut some peak hours trains i was told too

Units left: 05+49 11+84 34+85 40+41 58+76 59+79 60+61 75+78 Am not sure which units have actually been in service since Sunday 29th May (the last day that 67's were used en masse). I expect a few more to go very soon, as they don't really need 8 of them to run 2 trains in service.
