The project is progressing slowly but surely. After receiving some parts from radley models I realised that they did not do a similar enough chassis so I would design my own copying their basic design of chassis so their F Stock bogies could be used. I have also acquired a copy of Ian Huntleys Surface Stock Planbook which has been invaluable. Following this I have modified the cab windows and handrails as I had got these wrong(I have copied the style of the radley models handrail provisions also). All I need to do now is to finish adding detail to the chassis, though I will use ready made buffers and maybe other components to make things easier for myself. The shapeways page( www.shapeways.com/model/683420/met-1906-loco.html) has been updated so you can see progress, and I have also left the picture of the original model so you can compare how it has evolved. I hope to be able to get it printed soon and I will let you know as things happen.

Thanks very much for all the advice I have been given so far. I have made my model based on a diagram of the loco and one photograph I found in "London Transport Railways Album" By Chris Heaps. I have however realised that I know near to nothing about the loco as the book only has 2 sentences on the class. If anyone has any information about the class then I would be grateful for it. I need all the information I can get my hands on to be sure my model is right as I realised I made a few educated guesses when designing the model and would like to check whether they are right.

Looks great. I have always wanted the 1973 stock it being my favourite stock and never (to my knowledge) being produced before in model form. I have registered interest with metromodels as soon as they were announced and eagerly await the production run and some prices for the models.

Thanks for the comments.
Metman-I have looked on the Radley Models Website and they only appear to sell bodies and bogies spare. Is there a way of getting the chassis separately as a spare as I can't seem to find it on their website?
Phillw48-Thanks for the advice and I will probably get a switcher chassis as it will make it easier to fit DCC which I use as it is DCC ready. I assume this has been used for other metropolitan locos such as the "Sarah Siddons" Type Bo-Bo or has it been used by other people who made 1906 locos?
Cyberman-I was not thinking I needed to use ultra detail as I was trying to keep costs down so thought strong and flexible would work but I am reconsidering now. Its a pity they cannot be the cost of resin bodies from places like radley models but I guess that is because they have a master that they have made moulds from not a custom 3D print like what I am trying to do.

After seeing other playing with 3D printing I though I would have a go. I have had a go at making a Metropolitan 1906 Bo-Bo from some drawings. It is in OO gauge and is just a body so requires a chassis and motor to get running. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I would like to check it is right before I order one for myself and try to turn it into a working model. www.shapeways.com/model/683420/met-1906-loco.html?li=cart&materialId=6

Thanks for the responses. From the sound of things I will have trouble trying to get it to work on set track points then. I have a "The Model Shop" standard stock train which runs fine over my points so maybe I would be better off selling the EFE train and trying to get another "The Model Shop" train.

I have a 4 car train of EFE 1938 stock which I am trying to get to run successfully round me layout. It has had Metromodels bogie upgrades fitted(so really free running) but it seems to be derailing on my Hornby and Peco setrack points. The wheel flanges look quite shallow and the bogies seem to be rubbing against the inside of the chassis but this is just an idea of what may be going wrong. If anyone else has and suggestions on how to sort this out it would be greatly appreciated.

Kingsway models do card kits for underground stations. www.kingswaymodels.com/page4.htmThey may be the wrong scale for the corgi model (not sure what scale they are) but you could scan and scale one.

Thanks for the response guys. That gives me several things to try for trucks. What about the low loaders in the second video does anyone make them or a close approximation as if I had a couple of them then that could add some variety to my goods train.

I am looking for some rolling stock to form a engineers train to go behind my bachmann pannier tank. I have some BR Steel trucks and some LT brake vans but I am trying to get hold of some other longer trucks. This video has the sort trucks I would be looking for at 3:49 and this video has some low loader type things. Does anyone know of either reasonably priced kits for rolling stock or some RTR examples?

Thanks for the advice guys I managed to get the train working much better by turning one of the motors arround because the arrows on the motors were facing oposite ways. I tried to wire the motors together but decided against it because I didnt want to make a mistake on a £300 train. But it runs a lot better now.

Regretably I am unable to put both motors in one car as they have holes cut for the motors and i am not skilled enought to cut another hole in the floor. Another problem is that what would I wire the lights on the unpowered motor to? Any sugestions?

There is one teshendo motor per car which has the lights connected to it and I am using a gaugemaster analog controller.

A while ago I purchased from ebay a metromodels 2 car 1992 stock set fitted with directional lighting (both cars were motorised). The item was described as not working and I was very pleased when I put them on my track and to my supprise they ran. The problem I have with them is that though they run they only run very slowly and the strange thing is that when I run each car seperately they run a great deal faster.I did notice that on the underside of the model the arrow on the motors both face different way on each car. Could their lack of speed when coupled together be due to the power required to run both of them? And are there any ways of making them run better?
