Yes, at least London to Birmingham will be built. It is well beyond the point at which continuing is cheaper than stopping, even when ignoring things like value for money.

5th in the set: Queen's Park Sidings The RMT (the most prominent users' of the term) were not specific about north or south, but both are clearly more westerly than the only other contender at Newbury Park.

the number of ticket gates has already been increased - iirc a structure in the ticket hall (ticket office? retail unit?) was demolished and the space used to move the gates further from the top of the escalators and allow for more of them.

Link: These locations are all sidings named for Park stations except Rickmansworth South Sidings The only sidings I can find called "Stonebridge Park Sidings" are NR's, LU seems to exclusively refer to "Stonebridge Park Depot" so this is not the answer I'm looking for.

The circuit failure was in your quizmaster's ability to add 1 to 27. This has now been corrected and the images appear above.

I'm only an occasional user of the station, but a large group of people waiting to climb the stairs is how its been every time I've used it or passed through at busy (or even slightly busy) times.

There is a new digital tube map to coincide with the opening of Bond Street. There are only minor changes from July, detailed below, so I would be surprised to see a new pocket tube map. I didn't think to look for new posters when I was out today.
Bond Street Crossrail has opened, the Jubilee line symbol moves from south to north of the Central line to where the Elizabeth line crosses. The label moves from below left to above right and loses the dagger.
East Acton loses its dagger.
Tottenham Hale loses its Ikea symbol
Ilford is now step-free to the platform
Battersea Power Station gains a river interchange blob and so loses the boat symbol under the label. The "River Thames" label moves right in consequence.
The T of the "Transport for London [month] [year]" background text on the right of the map moves from above Upton Park to just east of Plaistow, presumably because "October" is longer than "July" and so would otherwise collide with Emerson Park. This is apparently not a problem on the west of the map where the T now starts beneath the Maidenhead label and very nearly collides with the labels for Taplow and Park Royal.
A notable non-change is that the dangleway remains unbranded, despite the IFS sponsorship officially starting on Thursday last week (20 October).

Adding step-free access to the Central line platforms was investigated at least twice as part of the design works for this project and rejected on the basis that it would be a very large cost (iirc further new passages would have to be dug) for limited benefit given that relatively few people who need step-free access would be able to board the trains once they got to the platforms. Although some people would benefit (e.g those who can manage a single step but not a flight) it was decided that using the limited budget to make other station(s) step free would bring significantly more benefits.

I vaguely recall reading about some sort of tragic incident which (I think) involved a maintenance engineer and the Jubilee line moving walkways. Yes, a maintenance engineer was killed in September 2019. The latest news I can find is from the following year and the incident was still being investigated then. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-54112345The walkways have been in service since then though, so that can't be the reason.

It has to be 2009 or 2008, I definitely remember them in service in 2009 Having double checked, it was 2009. I'll correct my post above.

There is (or was) a plan to move the 378s that are used on the Watford DC line to the East London line (and North London line?) to increase services there. This would happen when there were enough 710s to allow it to happen. However, I don't recall hearing anything about this since circa before the pandemic, so I don't know if this is still the plan. The units would not be retired though, the oldest members of the class were only built in 2010only entered service from new in 2009 so they are less than halfway through their expected life.

Can anyone explain the rather odd way the line is represented on the diagram at Paddington? Diagrams solely of the Elisabeth line appear as a continuous line at Paddington, but on the complete version it looks as if you have to get out and go walk-about. Currently and until through running begins, trains from Abbey Wood to Paddington terminate at the Elizabeth line station which is below Eastbourne Terrace, the road that runs alongside the southwest (platform 1) side of the mainline station. Trains from Reading and Heathrow terminate in the main station, typically platforms 11 and 12. Interchanging takes about 5 minutes (excluding waiting time). From 6 November, all* Elizabeth line trains will call at the belowground Elizabeth line station platforms and no walking will be required to change services. *During normal operation anyway, the possibility exists for services from the west to terminate in the main station during planned or unplanned disruption.

Yes, Sandite does have a metallic component - Network Rail describe it as a mixture of sand and antifreeze that also contains steel shot. Sand itself is also a terrible conductor of electricity, so without the steel it would likely make the reliability of train detection even worse!

Actually planning for capacity improvements should begin now (if it hasn't already) so that the capacity is there when (or ideally before) it is needed.
