You will only have to change at Canning Town for a couple more weeks. Once Tower Gateway reopens through trains to Beckton will recommence.

All DLR stations are fitted with people counters, I believe data from these is used for revenue calculations.

The ticket machines are not LU design, but are the units designed for DLR and now being installed across the network, I think the LU logo was on the gate controller unit.

I mean the actual PID, its quite common for them to freeze although the clock will show the correct time. In theory its the PSAs job to check them, but as you can imagine, particularly in peak periods, this doesn't happen, and an individual PID could stay frozen for many hours causing untold confusion until its reported to the control room and they reset it.

The PIDs had new control software a couple of weeks ago, and problems ever since. PIDs sometimes appear to be in error, when what has happened is that an individual unit has 'frozen'. Confusingly the time will be correct. They have to be individually reset by the control room, but it can take time before the problem is reported to them.

One design feature is the lack of an external centre door open push button. The theory is that people boarding will have to use the side buttons and therefore not block those alighting. We shall see!!

They are quite different, touch screen, Oyster reader, PIN keypad. The mock-up was a beigey colour, not sure if the final product will be the same colour. AFAIK the first will be installed at London City Airport. I could have sworn I had a picture but it seems to have vanished. Rumour has it that the old ones will be on the way to Croydon for spares on the Tram system.

As well as the new trains, start looking out for the new TVMs (ticket vending machines) the first of which are due for installation this week, with a roll out across the system over the next few months. The new machines are much more user friendly and all have Oyster facilities.
