Wow, bet that was a hard livery for EFE to do! I'd love to see a bus red 38 with the white roundels, but I guess most people wouldn't!

Interesting!
Just a side note to anyone wanting one last year they released the 38TS ELL box set around 25th july (well the musuem had one around then!). I only know because a mate got me the 59/62TS for my birthday and a week later the 38TS was around!
Id love to have this one, cheers for letting us know!

<sigh> If only there were a decent 67TS around!
(I'd abandon the current project and build a scale Seven Sisters) ;D

There is a photo of another pre-production IOW 38TS on an EFE advert in a bus magazine (I can't find this picture on the internet). It shows it with a lighter grey roof, and it has '007' where the train number used to go when they were running in London. Island Line put the unit number there on the LT red units, so EFE will be doing 483007.

I want a decent 1995 stock, I don't really like the one from metromodels, some of the detail are a bit wrong and they are £70 for one car I might have to make my own!

I am currently working on the Metropolitan Railway saloon stock. These will be released towards the end of the year through Radley Models.
The cars being built are:
1913 Driving Motor 1921 Trailer
In the future I am looking to built 1905 saloon stock Driving Motor and Driving/Trailer
I'm hoping to get a couple of sneek photos up on the site in the next week or so!
What other models would people really like to see?

The Bakerloo 38ts is not in Bus red, its the old style colour but with a horrid brown roof! Just like the LTM's 38 stock.

I was thinking about that the other day! There are many options with these cars. Four car trains with two standard stock trailers (both available), the preserved set with the 1938 trailer and the TRT with the 1973 trailer (which would have to be made too!).

Of course, the next challenge for EFE would be the 'Dinosaur' livery! My nine-year old daughter would love one! NSE livery would also be good as modellers of the mainland could run them. I have slides of 001-008 in action on the South Western and video of 009. There's something bizarre about seeing units 004/5 (with transposed motor coaches) heading up the fast line through Fleet while a class 50 hauled train from Exeter is relegated to the slow lines!

Surface stock would be nice too but most of that has been covered by kits. Current form with my own models seems to dictate that a ready to run model becomes available just as I am putting the finishing touches to a kit after years of hard work! 67/72 tube stock postdates any time period I will be modelling so would another hint about Cravens 1960 DMs go amiss...... As for the IOW stock in NSE livery, the 38 stock looked better than most carriers of this livery as they were small enough to look like a tube of toothpaste! Personally, I would like to see a set WITHOUT LT branding on the trailers and NDMs. removing the branding from an EFE coach and retaining the quality of the finish is impossible so we have to put up with it at the moment.

You can remove the London TransporT on the side-bit of brake fluid!
Ok, Ok, I'm seriously looking into 1960 tube stock at the moment.....

I'd love to see EFE do 1967/72 tube stock!! 1967/72TS has run in several different liveries, and on 4 lines, so it would make more sense for EFE to do them than other types. But, could they sell a 4 car Bakerloo or Victoria line refurbished unit with a white cab (there are no double ended 72TS on the Bakerloo)?

5 lines! (Central!) I doubt they would do a single ended unit because most modellers don't run scale length trains. I'd love some 67/72 stock however!

If there were ever 67TS available I'd have to ask AI nicely if I could do a scale Seven Sisters.

I'm not sure if EFE will contemplate doing another UndergrounD subject but if they ever did as always they'd need to maximise potential livery variations. To me, the obvious one would be an O/P/Q/R DM and an R trailer. This would allow O, P, Q & R stock trains to be modelled with Train Red, Bus Red, silver, white and maroon or yellow service stock liveries to be covered. Yes these classes have been done in kit form but the 'ready to run' EFE finish is still supurb.

Would like that! The current kits aren't quite right anyway, the roof domes and door windows aren't quite right.

I wouldn't say they aren't, I spoke to one of the people from efe at acton open day and they said they might look in to making more, as he said they were very popular and youv'e go to love the quality. fingers crossed I guess

One thing I noticed about the EFE '38 stock came to light when I carried out my backdating of two DMs to '35 flat fronted DMs. As part of the rebuilding process I removed the moulded handrails and replaced them with wire. This simple step transforms an already good moulding into a great looking model! The problem with doing this on a '38 set as a matter of course would be having to touch up that part of the livery and trying to match EFEs finish which is nothing short of superb! The conversion for the '35s was such that a complete repaint was necessary to cover my plasticard butchery! Tamiya Flat Alluminium was the nearest match I could find to the silver finish given to the sets at the end of their lives. Although it is acrylic it does go on top of an enamel primer and does take an enamel varnish so long as you leave the coats p-l-e-n-t-y of time to dry!
Thanks for the tip regarding brake fluid. I'll be gentle! Does anyone know if any of the model paint manufacturers have a shade that is as close as possible to EFEs red as applied to the Bakerloo and Piccadilly '38 sets that they did? I'm doing a '58 trailer out of a Radley models kit and don't want to repaint the whole set! I have some Cherry tube train red but it is too dark. I passed on a tin of bus red many years ago but, looking back, it may have been the solution.
Nice to see the hints re 1960 DMs are working, If only Hornby would take notice of the hints that have been dropped re a 4-SUB.....

Never understood why EFE hasn't done 38 EHO stock, bus red with roundels. Received wisdom says that many different liveries are required for a model to be viable, but then the liveries don't get released!
67/72 stock is a good obvious candidate for tube stock, and I would buy them even though they would not go near my layout. I would love to have rtr O/P/Q/ stock (R would require slightly different toplights and different window spacing). The problem with the kits of these is they have never solved the problem with flush-glazing the toplights.
In the model railway world (or bus world for that matter), strange things are happening. 'Dead-loss' prototypes are being modelled rtr left right and centre, and shops are commissioning entirely original models (not just resprays) from major manufacturers. If LU modellers could agree on most-desirable prototypes with most sales potential, it's not inconceivable that something could happen.
Or would that be impossible? I've spent too long reading depressing Southern Railway forums where attempts to reach agreement on the best EMUs for manufacturers to offer descend into chaos and bickering.

It would be nice to see O/P/Q stock although the O stock cars would have to be a little different. Different box options would be
4 car P stock train M-M+M-M 4 car Q stock train M-T-T-M 4 car CP stock train M-M+M-M Train Red 4 car CP stock train M-M+M-M Bus Red P stock trailer CP stock trailer Train red CP stock trailer Bus red
what a choice.........
