Just got North London DVD in the post, will watch it sometime today, and post a review later! Watch this space! ;D
Pretty good, up to usual V125 standards, personally I would liked for the history of the line to be told in a more in-depth fashion, but thats me. Picture is bright or dark. I dont think "incidentally" is featured, although I may have missed it! No mention is made of the fact that there are conductors on this route, despite showing them!
Approaching Stratford, Rob Curling speaks of Pacer units, want to know why? You have to watch it! 7.5/10.

"Incidentally an extension to Camberwell was mooted, but..." ;D ;D ;D Hello Joe, the Paris metro is coming out in March, the Bakerloo is being done in 2007. I would imagine it will come out late summer/early autumn, like the last few tube films.

Ahh right Well I'll get both of them then Incidentally (er... I said that without thinking! ), I went on the Lille metro while I was over there, and while it's not inspiring, each station has PEDs, as it's all proper ATO, like the DLR, but without drivers ... same as the Paris Metro I believe? Very efficient service.. although what happens when there's an emergency would be interesting to see....

Maybe someone sent Video 125 a letter suggesting that Rob Curling should use "Incidentally" less often...

Maybe someone sent Video 125 a letter suggesting that Rob Curling should use "Incidentally" less often... Was this latest DEV actually written by Peter Middleton - ASAIK all the LU ones had scripts written by him.

Got my copy today and I'm pretty impressed.
Is it true that there's been moves to try and preserve Silvertown to North Woolwich for when it gets cut from the service?
Oh, and it seems that our good mate Rob Curling's new word is posterity. He even says it in the DEV trailers at the end about the District!

Yes; the museum at North Woolwich does indeed have plans to preserve the trackbed, and this has in fact been safegaurded from development over it.
Yes, RC mentions this new word twice in the NLL DVD... Maybe he's cottoned on from having a gander at this 'ere site!!!

I'll think I'll say, just for posterity, that he should have stuck to Sky News narrating... or South East news in the days of yore... Or BBC RailWatch if we go just a little bit further back in time!

Sorry to take the topic off the NLL, but I bought a copy of the Northern Line DVD from the new ARHS shop at Central Station Sydney last week, and the disk is unplayable by both my DVD players connected to TV's and in my PC. Not even DVD Decrypt could interpret the disk properly. This is about the 7th one I've bought and the first to have a technical issue with the disk. I will be returning the disk in the new year.
Have any of you guys had any similar problems with their DVD's?

No, their discs are always fine with me. Sounds like you just need to replace it.

I thought they were all sold as Region exempt? Says its 'free' on the back of it. I must've just got one of a bad batch then by the sounds of it.
Thanks all..

Methinks the ARHS have issues with international DVDs.
I bought that Mark Williams' 'On the rails' DVD in late 05 from em and the DVD player told me 'twas the wrong region. Worked in the PC alright though.

Hey guys - yeah I got it replaced and it worked fine.
I also just this week bought my copy of the NLL and also the brand new 'Metro 5&6'. Now I know you guys bang on and on about Rob and his use of 'incidentally' this guy Yves Aubert who does the English translation also overdoes the use of 'incidentally'. So it would seem Peter Middleton just gives the narrators a script from which they read. I actually think Rob is better that this guy Yves though.
I really wish they'd make the commentry optional when they burn the dvd's in much the same way they do with say movie or tv releases. I once sent them a letter saying as such and received a reply from Bob Southgate who said it would be 'anathema' for them to do so. What a croc.

I got Metro 5 and 6 , it was quite good. The commentary is ok, does he say "incidentally" a lot? I didnt really notice. V125 consider the commentary to be "integral" to the film, thats what they told me, and they would not be doing a commentary-free option, at least not on their DEVs anyway.
This year should be good................Bakerloo and W&C, Kent Coast, Dublin-Cork and Diesel and Electric volume 3.

Yeah, looking forward to all of the new V125 releases... quite attached to the Kent Coast one, even though I use the line quite frequently to see family!
