I really do hope that they DO NOT choose RC to narrate the U-Bahn. That's all we need;
"Incidentally, this station was closed when the Berlin Wall was built"
"incidentally, there are....." etc

''Incidentally, Line U1 runs from Krumme Lanke to Warschauer Strasse. '' '' Incidentally, there are deep level platforms, such as ones on U9, that never finished being built .... blah blah blah '' Saying that, who normally narrates the European DEV's, or is it different people each time?

T/op92, do you have any books on Berlin U-Bahn?
I've got Brian Hardy's book, and while it's good, it's essentially a summary....
Do you have anything more detailed in English?

The only European DVDs I have are the TGV DEVs and they're done by some chick called Alex Reid, albeit she sounds a helluva lot like Beth Cordingly...

I don't have any books on the U-bahn myself, Joe S, but if I see any next time I go, I'll have a butchers at them.

Okay, for those who are active members on RailUk forums you will have already seen my thread on the emails i sent to and received from Video125 concerning the London Underground.
Video125 are producing drivers eye views of the Bakerloo and the Waterloo and City, this will be released onto one DVD entitled 'Bakerloo and City' as far as i am aware, the Bakerloo will be filmed in full (Elephant and Castle to Harrow and Wealdstone) In response to my question regarding the Victoria Line, Video125 stated they had no intention of filming on the Victoria because it was entirely underground, even though as i said, many LU enthusiasts would appreciate it, their view didnt seem to waver. Also, i thought i might mention it. They are considering the Docklands Light Railway but since passengers can view it from a drivers point already it may not be practical to film on it.

I have to admit I sometimes Fast Forward through the tunnels and tubes ! Once you have seen one tunnel they are all the same. Same applies once you have been up front on a real train, the drivers eye views get very boring!

Not underground, but fascinating nonetheless, Dublin -Belfast, is planned to be released on 24/8/06. It will be narrated by Henry Kelly.

I also have Brian Hardy´s book, but it is quite out of date. The Small profile has changed in the last years by quite a bit. There is quite a good German Book that AFAIK was also translated, I´ll have to check up on that.

''Incidentally, Line U1 runs from Krumme Lanke to Warschauer Strasse. '' Incidentally, Tubeboy, the U1 does not anymore run from Krumme Lanke to Warschauer Straße. Incidentally, due to a Major Timetable change 1 1/2 yrs ago, the U1 now, incidentally runs between Uhlandstraße and Warschauer Straße, incidentally. The U3, incidentally, now runs between Nollendorfplatz and Krumme Lanke, incidentally.

Will do mate. Cheers. Apparently there are plans [not very concrete ones] to run steam trains between Custom House and North Woolwich. Odd, seeing as Crossrail will use this route.

How about one of the Clockwork Orange, both circles, some views of the Control Room, depot etc? Not seen any video material of this subway system with a wonderful history... Online video have a dvd about the "clockwork orange" Features cab rides [not much though] archive footage and interviews. Its quite good.

Have seen their latest programme, "Dublin-Belfast".
Its good, up to their usual standards, commentary sometimes descends into waffling. Do we really want to know that Henry Kelly [who is a very nice bloke, and fellow Irishman! ;D] went to a holiday site next to the railway, when he was a kid? Also there is too much commentary, I have suggested to v125 to have it as a menu option, thereby pleasing everyone, but they said no.
It is not up to the previous Irish devs, the route just isnt as interesting as previous films. Having said that I enjoyed it, and would recommend it.

Ooooh! And the NLL also! ;D ;D

Yep! Funny, the NLL I pestered them to film, they said no, then I sent them an email saying why they should film it [interesting route, rich in history, variety of traction etc] All of a sudden, they announce they are filming it, down to me? I dont know, but I am so glad they have done it, as North Woolwich is closing next year.
I suggested at the time they should film the GOB, but they havent. I will be treating myself at Crimbo, and buying this, incidentally! ;D
I would say they will film this early 2007 =Bakerloo], should be out by may/june. The only production they will be doing up until then is the Paris Metro.

Well, I will order the NLL dvd.... defo... Might be an idea to drop a subtle hint and they might just release a GOBLIN dvd. I hope so... Incidentally, Junction Road Junction is so-called because of a nearby pub, which incidentally was called the Junction Road Inn, because it is incidentally situated on Junction Road.
not to sure about the point of having a W&C DEV, unless it has historical facts and a tour of the depot...

Similarly if the Vic is done [end-end is a shade under 30 minutes] A run to the depot? Feature on 2009ts?
Hope the Bakerloo includes London Road depot. I think it will be a Harrow-Elephant run, as part of the route is covered to an extent by the "Royal Scot" production, which ran n/b.

Watching Central DVD, yep, a new updated version [with the Ruislip branch and Chigwell loop] needs doing. Commercially, I dont think there would be much money in it though.
