Following on from what alexh said, i too would like the north london line to be filmed. Video 125 said, they might film the section east of stratford[as it is closing october] and then film the rest of it in the future. hope that helps alexh.

Thanks Tubeboy - certainly sounds interesting. I was reading your thread in the introduction section and I'm pleased we have another member who likes the Northern Line - for me it's so interesting. On the subject of Vid 125 and the Northern, I wrote to Peter Middleton around a year before the Northern production was made, asking if the line would be filmed. He replied that it would, and I hinted that he might want to get in there quick before the 59/72's were withdrawn. In the event it was filmed on 95's. I don't know if this was Vid 125's intention or whether time issues meant they were too late. At least the Central vid has the 62's

Hi Joe, i spoke to video 125 a few days ago and they told me their next lu production would be the bakerloo coupled with the w&c. It will not be filmed until 2007 at the earliest. Thanks Tubeboy, and welcome to the forum from me! Joe

Dont get me wrong alexh, i love the 59/72 stock but the 1995 stock are gorgeous. I support the idea of video 125 using the 95s, yes the northern is my favourite line, i travelled to school on it and have been working on it for almost three years. You need a thick skin though to work at a n/l stn, allthat abuse! Are you still trying to get a job on the tube?

The 95's are my favourite stock on the network (might be offset by the 09's when they come, we shall see). I just got the Northern DVD at the weekend, interesting because of the junctions at Kennington and Camden and because the tunnels aren't designed for high speed trains like the Vic's large radius tunnels are!

Not strictly tube trains, but tying in with video 125, they are not going to release their last remaining video programmes onto dvd format. These are principally running to time, a documentary on the ic225 project. Also rolling stone the story behind the arc class 59s as well as the quarry and its day-day operation. They are only on video for a limited period.

At least the Central vid has the 62's I was very disappointed with the Northern DVD, it was filmed at a time when there still a number of '59s running, and was in two parts, City and West End, it would have been a lot more interesting to have filmed from a 59ts on one of the routes.

I agree that thay could have done one route on a 59 but on the other hand if thay had done the northern on the 1959/1972mkI's then some would be asking for a new one done on the 1995ts like they are whith the central.

If Video 125 are going to do the bakerloo and W&C then why not do the victoria as well before the 1967 stock are gone and put all three on one DVD and be finished whith the London Underground.

That's just what I was thinking. The Vic is interesting to me because many new concepts in construction and operation came together. I've always had a soft spot for the Vic and the 1967TS.

Ah! big difference between the two MC, At the time of filming the Central, there was only 62ts. At the time of filming the Northern the 72 mk1's had all gone but the 59s were still in service, IMHO a golden opportunity for Vid 125 to please everybody, lost forever.

Wasn't the Victoria line shot down in flames because it is completely underground, ie nothing to see? (yeah I know the depot is in the open, but the running lines aren't)

Wasn't the Victoria line shot down in flames because it is completely underground, ie nothing to see? The most important feature of the 'Underground' is the fact that much of it is underground (surprise, surprise!). If someone wants to see pretty countryside, surely they must realise that a video of the Settle & Carlisle would be a better choice? Most T/Os will have been asked the question, "What does it look like in the tunnels"; and we have all seen passengers peering into the tube after a train has gone, trying to see what is down there. One of the best ways to find out what the public want is to observe - that is what the most successful market researchers do. I remember watching the reaction of the public during the tunnel sequences after the first driver's cab with underground film projection was put into LTM; it was a revelation. There was no editing of the film and no commentary - just the sound of the train - and they were transfixed. It was also interesting to note the huge amount of time that visitors spent on this exhibit when compared to some of the other items in the museum. What a video production company chooses to do and how they make commercial decisions is their own choice. But by only doing things their way, they leave a gap in the market for others to fill. It is often those seemingly insignificant gaps that amaze everyone by being filled with products that are spectacularly more successful than the originals.

We seem to be running two parallel threads here (where are the admins?? ;D ;D ;D).
But the solidbond approach with switchable subtitles (for that read commentary) gives the most genuine view of what the T/op sees. It may not appeal to the general public so much, but for all enthusiasts (and/or future t/ops) it is as close as one can get to real life unless invited to a real cab ride.
And if it is all underground (and all ATO) so what? That's what it is. I'm not sure the video companies know (or in some cases WANT to know) who their most profitable customers are.

Just been on the v125 website, and they have got provisional permission to film the north london line!!!!!!!!!. All the badgering and determination has paid off, despite them telling me they had no firm plans to do it. ;D

It may have Peter Middleton's name at the bottom, but i think Rob Curling wrote this paragraph: Incidentally, if you haven't got a DVD player..........

Latest is that Dublin-Belfast has been filmed. Aberdeen-Inverness will be filmed later this year, as will the North London line. The Paris Metro is a possibility.

Well if they're branching off into foreign lands, how about pestering them to do the whole of the Berlin U-Bahn Network ?? ;D ;D That I would love, even though I suspect I'm in the minority! Possibly T/op92 .... whatever he's called himself this week would like a copy too, if it ever materialises?

If all else fails, write to DB Bahn-Shop Potsdamerplatz Berlin 13110 They do some DVD's about the railways in Germany - Not sure if there is an English option for the subtitles tho... I will have to check!

Is there a site at all, for the Deutsche Bahn DVDs? ( Presumably the official DB site, won't have them?)

Just to let everyone know who is interested in Berlin U-Bahn DEV possibility, I e-mailed V125 earlier.
I will post their reply to my e-mail here.

Reply from Video 125
Hi Joe,
Thanks for your suggestion. We don't know much about the U-Bahn network but will try to find out.
We are probably going to film four lines on the Paris Metro in August of this year however. So we shall be able to see how viable continental underground railways are.
Regards Video 125
