LUL shunt signals at Stratford Market Depot have 2 red lights at the bottom of the signal to indicate stop, above is 1 white to indicate proceed. The red lights and the white light are never on at the same time. Thank you for that correction. It appears that the LUL Signalling Design Handbook (admittedly an old version) is in conflict with Fa 101/3 of the WRM. The most recent LUL standard says new shunt signals should have 2 red/2white like the NR ones.

I thought that this might be of interest. It shows a wrong-line freight move up the Down Main from Marchwood MOD to Redbridge. Note the fixed red gantry signal with the three-route indicator. This was a very rare move! www.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20020a.jpgwww.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/causeway2.jpgHowever to bring it back more-or-less on topic, note the two NR ground PLS either side of Junction Road, Totton LC. www.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20014a.jpgwww.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20016a.jpgwww.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20021a.jpgwww.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20022a.jpgwww.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20023a.jpgI find signal E774 fascinating! It shows the "X" for the eventual cross-over at Redbridge to the Up Main, plus two other symbols E786 is capable of showing either red or yellow - routing towards E774. This signal isn't capable of showing a proceed aspect.... but there are three shunt routes from the signal: Towards the down [Redbridge] platform, routing to the GPL before the crossover - in this case, you'll get the two diagonal white lights and an 'X' in the theatre indicator. Towards the arrival/departure line, routing to a GPL on that line - 'two white' with an 'H' in the theatre indicator. Towards the group (of two?) 'depot reception sidings' - same again, with an 'R' this time.
Is there anything similar on LU? This is a shot showing the country end of Totton, with the red lights at Totton LC on the Down line. Note there is what appears to be a PLS on E 787 which is presumably not illuminated as (I am guessing here) it and the LC PLS are for Totton Yard, on the opposite side of the tracks to the loop for the Fawley branch. I have the signallign diagram for the area on RailUK Forums but the site keeps crashing. www.nostalgiaroad.co.uk/20006b.jpg

Can anyone confirm the type installed on the W&C? As per the original BR type - white and red for on, 2 whites for off.

They're not new signals - none of the signal heads were changed as part of the project. Hence any non-compliance was existing at transfer, firstly from BR to LU and secondly from LU to Metronet.
