I'm delivering connect training in a few weeks time, so i went down there to: a). say farewell to the old place and b). Have a look at everything in action to aid delivery. Luckily an ELL i/o was stepping back so I got the full rundown on both train and handheld. killed 2 birds with one stone, but didn't see any of you lot.

I rode the last public train in and out of Shoreditch (departed approx 8:40pm), which was rather busier than usual, and running late due to passenger action. There was a "VIP" train afterwards, which stayed at Shoreditch until after the closing ceremony and was seen passing SB through Wapping empty at 9:45pm. However we did not attempt to blag our way onto it.
Edit: Photos now on my photosite, link in my signature.

Anyone know who the final driver of the track was? It must be quite a rewarding feeling knowing you'll be the last one who has to do a certain route ever in the whole history of time

His announcements were good and funny, but through overuse they became irksome. I read in the traffic circular that 335m of p way is to be retained north of Whitechapel [presumably where the new line will branch off] the remainder becoming disused. Anyone know the latest regarding the cravens unit doing a proposed railtour soon to Shoreditch?

Anyone know the latest regarding the cravens unit doing a proposed railtour soon to Shoreditch? Unfortunately that was scrapped because of a lack of consent from management. for being able to run the Cravens tour train. Which is sad, as now there will never be a chance to run to Shoreditch considering its blocked off for the ELL extension work. I too took a trip on the last passenger ELL line train to Shoreditch, and the driver encouraged the passengers to cheer three times for Shoreditch upon arrival. That staff train, it would have been impossible to blag onto as there all the invited VIPs had name badges and there was a big police presence at both Whitechapel and Shoreditch, the police effectively acting as bouncers! "Your Name's not down, you're not coming in!" I did notice alot of residents taking pictures of Shoreditch throughout the day.

So I understand, the Cravens Unit has suffered a cracked solebar/ truck chassis, which is one of the reasons of its non-use...
