do you know the date of the last Day of Shoreditch? I'd love to be on that last train..... or at least get a pic of it! Any ideas when it'll be running (to echo Aldwych's comment) |

Shoredictch station closes permanently in June 2006, due to work on the East London Line Extension. Taken from the very first post on this thread - I'm sure more information will become available nearer the time. |

This must be the only station I've never visited. I've been out of Liverpool Street NR many-a-time to try and see where it linked up with the GE main line, but can't see anything. I've also tried Google Earth and not come up with anything.

A1. Taking Out Of Commission of East London Junction, Liverpool Street (E.R.)-Shoreditch (L.T.)On and from start of traffic on Monday 18th April, East London Junction - the junction between the East London Line and the Eastern Region line north of Shoreditch - will be taken out of commission and the points clipped, scotched and padlocked for through running on the Eastern region. At the same time the junction home signal from Shoreditch (L.T.) will be altered to display a fixed red aspect. |

The connection with British Rail at Shoreditch was severed in April 1966.
You can still see were the connection was if you are on a train from Stratford , just before it gets into Liverpool Street platforms 18 to 16 .

This might sound funny, but what I might do is go to somewhere like Canada Water and buy a ticket to Shoreditch, or actually go to Shoreditch and get a platform ticket!!! Just for sheer posterity you know!!!
Sounds weird I know, but it will be the first ticket I've actually bought since I started working for the Underground!!!!!

The Shoreditch closure was mentioned on the Metro Travel page of the Metro free paper today. There's going to be a "meet the manager" event for the users of the station to find out about their alternatives.

May I suggest you go to Shoreditch and purchase the cheapest ticket possible, don't travel and then you will have one? Could you also not get somebody to get a photo of you at the station entrance with the name on view? |

problem is tho, LU tickets only display the destination, and a code as the station where purchased, so, I'm going to have to get a ticket at say Shadwell or Whitechapel TO Shoreditch.
I'm not worried about spending a few quid for a ticket!
I like the idea of standing next to the roundel at the station.... Or failing that, I'll just buy the roundel!!!!
