Somehow I think the work to make it fit might cost more than is the threshold for minor works...

Saw a 2009 stock yesterday on the southbound platform at Euston - could only see it from distance though, as the platform was taped off.

Slight bump here, but what went on with the clearance testing on the Piccadilly with a 67 stock, do they know now if the route is cleared for 09 stock?

Any updates on entry to passenger service of the 09 stock?

I'm fairly certain I've seen it stated somewhere as December 2008 - I could well be wrong though!

December is the month doing the rounds at the moment.
The selection process for the first batch of drivers to operate them will begin shortly. I say selection because these initial positions will be for "Stock and Signalling Train Oporators," who will be providing feedback during the operational assurance phase. For various reasons I have decided to throw my hat into the ring, and the increased pay (same as IO) is not the least of these.

I have also seen January 2009. With all due respect, you're profile says you are 14 - I work for LUL and have the benefit of 'inside information' In any case, I'd imagine January 2009 is more likely what the public at large will be told........

Interesting to note all the additional co-acting signals and "check shunt signal" notices planned to go in on the Victoria Line now, presumably due to the decision to use a non-standard R/H driving position.

I went to the Victoria Line Open Day for wannabe-drivers today, and we got to go inside the train, looked rather swish really! There was a chap from higher up along with us taking some pictures, dunno if/when they'll be available for public (or company) consumption. The "chap from higher up" was me! The pics were uploaded onto the LU intranet Image Library and are still there (see T/C12 2008, page 20). Yesterday I was told that someone at NPK Dt wanted all 2009TS and depot views taken on that day, with permission, removed for alleged "security" reasons! Of course this was refused as my boss could see no such justification, photos of the 2009TS prototype have been all over the railway press after all. The one concession was the deletion of a view of the new Victoria Line SCC building, a pity therefore that this has already been identified, along with the new Northern Line facility, in internal LU Service Control Bulletins! Apparently certain people are worried about the terrorist threat "from within", read into that what you will...but it makes a mockery of this to then feature the self-same buildings in official publications which are widely distributed among many grades of staff!

No...really?? What with this and the unfortunate demise of the strain gauge car of the 's' stock, it seems like someone is trying to tell LUL something... XD

No...really?? What with this and the unfortunate demise of the strain gauge car of the 's' stock, it seems like someone is trying to tell LUL something... XD I think the important thing to remember here is that train 1 is a pre-series train and is running under test conditions in order to highlight areas which can be improved upon before the main 09ts fleet goes into production. It was always intended that this train would return to Derby on completion of it's testing regime in order to be modified to reflect the final fleet design based on the test results. 09ts train 2 is undergoing a similar series of rigorous tests on the Derby test track. Only this week the train was uncoupled and back in the shed having routine maintenance conducted. The 'S' Stock incident ( which wasn't anything to do with the Strain Gauge car) is a completely unconnected event and is something that can happen on a project of this magnitude. I also feel it only fair to point out that the 'S' Stock team have watched the birth of the 09ts with interest (I was responsible for the 09 before moving over to 'S' about two years ago) and we have benefitted greatly from their experience. Lets get them into service and see how they go!

Fair enough prjb. I was only teasing by my comment I know, hence my at the end. To be honest I started off replying to your post with the intention of writing a line or two but ended up having a mini-rant!! The post itself ended up being for the community at large in order to clarify the situation with the new stock, so I probably should have just started a whole new one rather than quoting yours. Sorry.
