For those of us who have to suffer occaisional sessions of Cbeebies viewing, the 3D cartoon 'Underground Ernie' starts soon (maybe next week). So there is no escape from LU for our long-suffering partners, even in kids programmes!
FWIW, my son would rather sit and watch Solibond's District Line DEV than some of the cBeebies offerings. Who can blame him though!?

I must admit, I have to cringe at the current content offered to todays youngsters!

Especially the ridiculously pc 'Balamory'. I was brought up without such pc nonsense and I'm not racist, homophobic or anything else. Good commonsense parenting will teach your kids to respect everyone, regardless of who or what they are.

Come outside is good, heard Pippin the dog died and a replacement was used. Teletubbies, feel comatosed just looking at the intro.

Good commonsense parenting will teach your kids to respect everyone, regardless of who or what they are. I agree, however when the parents don't respect anyone how on earth will the kids learn? Coming westbound on the Central Line through central London a couple of weeks back I was shocked to hear a very chubby boy, probably about 8 years old, describe his slightly less chubby sister (who would be about 6 or 7) as a "fat bitch". The girl burst into tears, but the mother, who was standing right next to both of them, didn't make any comment about this whatsoever, other than to tell the girl to stop crying

Like flying Joe? The southend airshow is on today, only know that because one are laying on extra trains. As for the chubby boy incident, all too familiar I am afraid.

My boy loves Auntie Mabel and Pippin and even plays the on-line game on the CBeebies website. He is only three but has rather good mouse control, he uses his thumb to double click/click & Drag as his fingers are too small! Oddly he has gotten quite excited about the prospect of watching Underground Ernie. I say oddly because he seems to have no real interest in the railway despite my best efforts. He has around £600 (no exagerration) of Brio with remote controls, track sensors, level crossings, bridges and tunnels, you name it - all set over two seperate layouts. He has been on numerous cab rides on the system too, but is not impressed at all. His Brio sits idle for the most part, and when on a cab ride he generally asks 'when are we getting off'. Kids, you just can't win. ;D

To tubeboy.... yes, I have an idle interest in planes, however it was pi$$ing down with rain yesterday, and today I had other stuff to do Next year maybe! And to PRJB .... Good God! If I was in a cab ride, the thing I'd say is '' Can I stay on when you change ends!! '' ;D

Given a cab ride, he'd probably have worked out the finer points of using the westinghouse within minutes! Taylor, on the other hand, likes anything that she can dance to, her favourite is 'Boogie beebies'. She has no interest in trains, buses or cars whatsoever. Girls

You can never tell can you? I bought him his first Brio layout for his 2nd birthday and he played with it at first. So I expanded it (sidings, stations etc) until I could fit no more on the table. Then I bought him a second layout with a two tier station, garage, and airport. Shortly after that he just didn't want to know about trains anymore. His best friend from nursery loves trains, so we have done a few organised cab rides on the weekends. His mate is over the moon and just doesn't want to go home, whilst my boy is just interested in getting out of this tin box and going to Legoland. Oh well.

Oh dear I have all this kids TV rubbish to come again! At least when my daughter was young, the kids TV wasn't too bad (and we didn't have CBBC etc!) I must admit I quite like some of the music from Balamory... "I'm Archie the inventor..." etc As for Auntie Mable in her aeroplane, I'll always remember her as nurse Gladys Emmanuel from Open All Hours! (BTW - I should explain that I don't make a habit of watching kids TV! It's only when I'm babysitting my three-year-old nephew (At least that's my excuse! ;D)

Funny tho, the entertainment provided by kids programmes isnt it???
I've always wondered where Come Outside was filmed. Worked out it must be in the Chiltern Hills around Banbury etc, but am not sure. The dog must have taken ages to train to do the things/tricks it got up to!

They should have changed it to her, a guard and a polka dotted tube train. Now that would've been a show to be prooud of!! ;D

When he turns 10 and can handle a proper electric railway they had better watch out! ;D I remember the original training layout at White City, it had full size frames with all the proper working inter-locking. It was fantastic.

The most bizarre Come Outside episode I ever had to sit through was one where Aunty Mabel finds out 'Where does Poo go?'. They went from her Loo all he way to the sewage works. Very strange! ;D

Heh.
I remember the one where Pippin went and saved Aunty Mabel from her cupboard which locked behind her, and there was a chippan fire.....
How many of 'em were filmed exactly?? Must've been quite a lot, 'cos I remember watching them I think every week day for a couple of years when I was about 6-7yrs old?

Its like Chucklevision. Its gone through the ages. Every time you watch you think, "how long has this been around, and how much longer will it be around for". Its something that will never die because of its appeal, and that is something the BBC seem to get right now and then! But to answer your question - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_OutsideReading this: Definately one episodes made when Tony Blair became PM
