For the 'traditionalists', Thomas the Tank Engine is showing on TMF (Freeview 21) at half past eight every day. It seems to be the first few series, and that means there's a good chance of Ringo as narrator. ;D

Saw it for the first time the other day, makes the teletubbies look intelligent, mind you, not really targeting 30 year olds is it? Thomas was much better, before that was ruined by Britt Allcroft basing "her" stories on the Rev Awdry's ones.

I hear that new series of Thomas feature irritating songs and too much happy-happy cheeriness. There was nothing wrong with the Rev's work, in my opinion. The latest ones just don't seem to work. But they will have wanted to keep its ratings and takings high so were 'forced' to release new ones, I suppose. Britt Allcroft has now parted company with Thomas though, I think.
Never the same once past the Ringo ones...

yeah, but its when you hear kids talking in 'teletubbyspeak' in shopping malls that you think, my god, it's impregnated into them...and they won't forget that easily.
Like when I sometimes baby sit for a good friend, his kid talks to me like tinkywotnots does. I then let my friend borrow a video I recorded eons ago of the ORIGINAL thomas, and he's rivetted to the set. All this balamory nonsense!!!
Gawd!!! PLEASE re-invent DANGERMOUSE...[or summat else from the good times]

But look what happened when they re-made Postman Pat and Fireman Sam (not Double Trigger's version!)- just not as good as the originals, although I'm not five any more so maybe that makes a difference. ;D

Exactly mate, Looking back at it now, you still remember the originals, just as you did when you watched them, all those years ago. I have sene the new Thomas's and postman pat's, and yeah, no way near as good as the originals....

Still have many of my original episodes of Thomas, Fireman Sam and Postman Pat on video, complete with adverts and idents between, which in some cases will be harder to find than the programmes they were between! Like that public information film that they can't find, the Reginald Molehusband one- the only copy that still exists will be on someone's old VHS somewhere. Or Betamax, for that matter.
The new episodes of Pingu aren't as surreal as the originals either...err, just for research purposes!

Was sorting through my old VHS collection the other day, and found I had a news item from 1984 detailing the train derailment at Morpeth. Crikey, the presenters style, the clothes, they way the weather was done - no moving images and satellite views then, just black 'isobars' stuck over the UK on a backboard!
And who remembers the Accrington Stanley Milk advert!?!?!? A national treasure!

I was annoyed when Ernie was first introduced, because I had written a children's book with pictures two years ago and only published last year. (check my website: www.mindthedoors.netThis is based on the underground and soley written for children.

Looks better than Ernie too. There's something weird about the animation for that programme...and Ernie himself is voiced by an ex-footballer who flogs crisps.

The most bizarre Come Outside episode I ever had to sit through was one where Aunty Mabel finds out 'Where does Poo go?'. They went from her Loo all he way to the sewage works. Very strange! ;D I remember that episode as well. They also did a similar one about 'holes in the road'.... Have I found the 'must have' toy for Christmas 2006 with www.dhalsall.com/productguide/brands/undergroundernie.php?o=0Could the board game replace ATOR

I managed to catch a glimpse of it Thursday morning. One of them was ferrying vegetables about; I was amused by the level rail crossing [akin to that at Newark on the ECML] I noticed there was no signalling overlap and so 'sherlock' stopped right on the crossing... tut tut, thats not permitted in the signalling regulations... No draw up, I likes the way the 2 car train makes use of the longer than need-be platform; stops right by the stairs! The also seems to be a distinct lack of fare-paying passengers..... *cringe*

Aren't vegetables the same as fare-paying passengers? ;D
The two-car is Hammersmith (one end) and City (other end!). Note that their Victoria is a slammer.

Well, my kids like Underground Ernie.
They showed one of the original Postman Pat stories today. I wish I had that few letters to deliver on my round, or could get up and find the mail ready to deliver!

My favourite PP editions.
The foggy day. Poor pat gets lost, until the church bells start ringing... The sticky day. Pat tries to wrap a parcel and ends up getting more sticky tape on himself! The late day. Pat is late, trips over Jess on his running out of the house...

What was Pat doing wrapping a parcel. Had he been tampering with the Queens Mail? Tsk Tsk.

Someone hadn't wrapped it properly...or so Mrs Goggins said.
Someone's altered the day where he falls over Jess to show what might happen if Pat weren't always so nice...

And who remembers the Accrington Stanley Milk advert!?!?!? A national treasure! (In a deep scouse accent) One boy enquires "Accrington Stanley? Who are they?" Friend finishes milk before spluttering, "Exactly" Come Outside is currently on 1830 each weekday - there's probably only around 20 episodes as I think I've seen all of them at least twice - including where does poo go. Thomas is on at 0700 on Nick Jr. Ernie is on BBC2 at 0900 and CBeebies at 1630. I could go on and recite the entire CBeebies/Nick Jr listings for the day, but I won't. Generally we tape "Ernie" at the latter time as a) I want to ensure my daughters knowledge of daddy's work is kept up to date and b) It clashes with Deal or No Deal which is another of my eldest daughters favourites (should she pick up the phone she always answers "Hello Banker." The damage has been done and I'm sorry). Just in case you're wondering, International Underground Control is almost exactly like Baker Street SCC except they have a slightly different carpet. A colleague of mine was recently ribbing me for being an anorak (especially as I caught the BBC2 episode of Ernie during a Mealbreak ;D) However, it wasn't me who went on to point out to everyone else that there wasn't a posi-rail ;D
