"Perhaps the same is meant - special trips 26/02/23 and timetable service 31/02/23". As I thought, sometime never - it'll be a long wait till the 31st of February; any year!

First train into service 26/02/23 First train ready for service introduction 31/03/23 The difference between points escapes me! Perhaps the first is available to depot for training? The last, into passenger service? With new S stock, didn't they run them in public service first on special trips ? Perhaps the same is meant - special trips 26/02/23 and timetable service 31/02/23 ? Just a guess. Think this is where the typo first started!

Is analysis of an obvious tpyo on my part raelly necessary ? It is clearly a tpyo since the korrect date is kwoted by me in the same post I made the tpoy. Sure there are occasions wen a toyp renderz someting meannigless, but three psots jumping in on this won is a over the top.

The large-scale renewals programme continues to progress. We have identified a fix for the minor integration issues identified in Quarter 1 for the prototype trains and we are working through a schedule for introduction with our suppliers. Furthermore, we now have completed hardware design including CCTV and can move into procurement for these elements. We are preparing for production readiness as designs have progressively been signed off and training undertaken. We transferred the prototype trains into the new facility at Acton for further works while another train was being prepared for conditional assessment to support the programme lift. We also pulled forward critical doors overhaul items and started technical review to overhaul seats.
The next major milestone is the completion of the final design review and sign off, which is expected to be achieved before the end of 2022.
LU have procured passenger information systems, wheelchair units and flooring kits for the Central line fleet after completing prototype tests.

Hmm. So when could we see the upgraded trains in service? I'm expecting January or February next year, April if we're being pessimistic. And why is TfL being basically silent about this upgrade?

Why are TfL silent - because according to the schedule when CLIP was getting underway in 2016 the final train should have been completed this week, but instead design hasn't even finished yet. So not only is the programme horrendously late, with the refurbishment unlikely to be complete before 2025 it's also massively undermining the business case for using the option in the Siemens 24TS contract to build a new fleet for the Central. That risks LU being stuck with 92TS for probably another decade and their eventual replacement needing individual procurement, potentially a new manufacturer and design, and thus being even more expensive.

There is plenty of evidence on this forum and elsewhere to demonstrate that project timescales frequently slip so I would take any post which suggests February with a pinch of salt.
Perhaps one of the reasons TfL is being silent about this upgrade could be because there's nothing much to report. It's also a life extension project rather than one of the major line upgrades, and these tend to be less publicised.

I hope so, the 92 stock are one of the best stock. They were way ahead of time when introduced. They were futuristic when introduced.

They needed a lot of welding and gaffer tape very soon after delivery.

From a passenger point of view the trains were well designed but poorly constructed.

The lack of Passenger Information Displays is a big fault with them now, which needs correcting.

<<That risks LU being stuck with 92TS for probably another decade >> At least.... Quite likely, the money being spent on them now and the time it will take to work on the entire fleet. Also the time it will take to get funding for a new Bakerloo fleet, and then for the Central Line replacement fleet.

I read on a article that the new central line motors are now going to be from Alstom instead of Bombardier I found this odd as test train 1 (91111) was fitted with bombardiers ac traction equipment but this is going to change to Alstom

I read on a article that the new central line motors are now going to be from Alstom instead of Bombardier Alstom acquired the Bombardier UK business this year, I don’t think there will actually be a change of supplier.

Ok. I also read that the motors are made in Sweden instead of UK

Tom,any chance you can photograph the bracket to identify the exact part? Sure. It'll be a while as it's in my cupboard at Acton rather than Stratford and I don't plan to be there for a bit.

How much more, do we reckon, is in "cupboards at Acton"? I'm still amazed by what's lurking around the organisation. Every now and then I get phone calls from colleagues all over the business saying "we've come across these - do you know what they are?" and they're often very useful discoveries!
