Prince Edward doing the Royal Opening today. Unveiling a plaque at Paddington and riding to Tottenham Court Road. Just goes to show that saga has gone on so long, it's dropped well below top billing. Sorry brigham it seems the Queen went for an upgrade and is doing the Paddington visit. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-61465207

The Queen typically looks grumpy at public events but she has a great smile in that news report. Ever since I first saw this picture I’ve suspected she’s a bit of a rail enthusiast on the quiet: img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/05_02/QueenSteamDM_468x314.jpgSo I wouldn’t be surprised if her staff always knew the opening of the Liz line, whenever it came to pass, would be high on her “I’ll go if I possibly can” list. Pity she didn’t stay long enough to take a ride

If I recall, HM has bashed the 365 up to Sandringham from Kings Cross?

If I recall, HM has bashed the 365 up to Sandringham from Kings Cross? On a fairly regular basis. Not doing it now - she's flying pretty much exclusively due to her age. Wouldn't be the first royal train enthusiast - one King of Bulgaria liked to drive the Orient Express when it came through his country. By all accounts, he wasn't very good. In any event, she opened the Victoria Line too.

On the news, it was Prince Edward who got to bash on a 345 today to TCR and back.

I was pleased that she was able to attend, after all it was named after her!
It also dispels rumours concerning her health.

The plaque she unveiled was not secured to the wall.
I suspect a Prince Edward plaque was manufactured just in case.

When Prince Charles opened the Jubilee line to Charing Cross there was a last minute panic about what would happen if he needed a toilet. I had to run down the Strand to the Old Civil Service Stores to buy towels, soap, towel rail etc for the toilet in one of the new shops in the ticket hall. Of course it wasn't used.

With thoughts of Mr. Milliband’s ‘Ed-Stone’ I wonder what will become of the Ed-Plaque. Were there strict orders to cut it into 500 pieces, and each one of those pieces cut into ……. or might it turn up in an auction someday?

A paper to the TfL Elizabeth Line Committee - 25 May 2022 meeting reports at 4.6 "Network Rail continues its station upgrades on the east of the central section, between Liverpool Street and Shenfield, focusing on completion of the station enhancement works at Romford and Ilford. Although Romford station has been affected by delays with gaining acceptance and assurance to enable handover, all parties are working collaboratively to deliver the ticket hall and lifts into use during May 2022, ahead of final completion and formal handover of the new buildings. Good progress on the slab replacement within the main concourse has been made at Ilford station. Demolition of the defective slab elements is now complete, and the new composite deck is due for completion by the end of May. It is anticipated that the station building and lifts will be brought into use in the summer 2022."

A paper to the TfL Elizabeth Line Committee - 25 May 2022 meeting reports at 5.1 "The plan to complete the end-to-end railway entails three steps; 5b-minus which will provide a 22 trains per hour peak (16 trains per hour off-peak) frequency in the central section (Paddington – Whitechapel) which can commence outside of a National Rail timetable change but requires a 16-week notice period; and stages 5b and 5c both of which step up the peak frequency to 24 trains per hour but require auto-reverse and will be implemented to align with the National Rail timetable change.
Reliability will be a key factor in commencing and moving through the Stage 5 stages with the reliability on each of the west, central and east sections needing focus and management. Particular attention is also currently on the transitions which will be key to support Stage 5. A T-minus process is being established that builds on the approach taken to countdown to commence revenue service of the Elizabeth line."

The TfL press release for the Royal opening states: Bond Street station will open later this year, when the western and eastern sections of the railway are connected to the central section to enable through-travel. This suggests the same date, which will allow one map modification.

I think they were colour testing at One Canada Square last night as it was pinky/purple instead of the Yellow & Blue it's been doing lately

The Elizabeth Line is finally open! A huge well done to everyone involved and to get this project running. I will be using it this Friday to see how it is.

Went into work via Tottenham Court Road this morning to check it out, a couple of observations front this morning:
At Ilford they appear to have attempted to remove the stickers covering the new name in the new ticket hall but only seemed to half come off so they gave up with the rest which remain covered.
At Liv St XR I noticed that the announcements were welcoming me to Moorgate Station which for us isn't odd but for the average commuter from Liv St or tourist that could be rather confusing.

Paid a quick visit on my way to work this morning, only to arrive at Paddington with “Inspector Sands” announcements blaring and staff getting us out of the station pdq.

Does anyone know if the announcements on the tube for "TFL Rail" have been changed to Elizabeth line? I'm not entirely sure. I would have guessed they changed them all last night. Would be good if someone knew.

I heard "Good service on all London Underground lines, DLR, London Overground and the Elizabeth line" when walking the interchange passage at Moorgate between Northern line and Elizabeth line.
Edit: on 25 May it was back to "TfL Rail" at Liverpool Street

I think they are referring to the in-car tube announcements (Eg northern, central and jubilee lines)
