...Should I bring the custard? I take it that that is a forum in-joke.... Or are you planning a fight in the lead car? ;D (in which case my reservation in the middle of the train might be particularly serendipitous!)

Oh well, no reply, so as not to be known as Mr thicky, this post will self destruct in five minutes.

Apologies, I was off doing the quiz.
I wasn't aware of custard being a Yorkshire delicacy, the forced Rhubarb to go with it definitely is a triangle thing though.

Some details are hereWith further (older) discussion hereI'd seen rumours of custard, but no hint of the origin. Still none the wiser really. However, I'd have thought that rhubarb was more with the colour scheme of this particular event ;D. Anyway I've read enough to convince me that it's safe to leave the sou'wester at home. Note to self... Watch out for failed wizzard with a custard fetish.....

The tickets will arrive in the middle of next week. Bring the custard! All tickets have been sent out today by second class post. I have been told if you are booked on this train and have not received your ticket, turn up at Moorgate where the stewards will have a list of every ones names and addresses and the car letter you are in.

Does anybody know the approximate time for the tickets to arrive via the post? Thank you in advance I made a mistake on the web order form and missed the "Delivery Options" box (which defaulted to "Collection") so I emailed in to ask for the ticket to be posted to me. The response that I received indicated that my ticket would be posted to me about September 17th (yesterday) and should be received within the following few days. So expect the tickets soon. Not being local to London, I chose the "postal" option, and received a notification in the email confirming my purchase that they would be posted. However, the tickets still hadn't arrived yesterday (despite me being one of the first people to book), so I chased up with the Museum; in a reply received today, it sounds as if they hadn't realised that I had chosen this option, and informed me that the tickets would now be posted tomorrow (Wednesday). Therefore, if you similarly chose this option and still haven't received your tickets, it might be worth checking with the Museum (sooner rather than later) that they are aware of the need to post them out. The tickets will arrive in the middle of next week. Bring the custard! Thanks for your responses. I recieved an email response from the LTM saying they had ticketing problems beyond their control and tickets should arrive during the middle of next week. By the way, if your ticket doesn't arrive on time, then call the LTM office and they will inform station staff.

Very good advice. It seems LTM haven't got their act together on this one. I'm reading one thing on this forum and being told different on the phone by them. I have been assured the tickets will arrive this week and at the latest next Monday.
Edit: Spoke to operations this afternoon, the tickets had to be sent to TFL before posting them out, and they are not allowed to use First Class Post, so perhaps mid next week maybe the latest they will arrive.

I’ve just received from the LTM, the poster titled, Metropolitan Line Timetable Last A stock rail tour Saturday 29 September 2012 This is a non-stopping service. The doors will only open at stations that are in bold. All other times are for information only.
I thought this would be a small souvenir poster but it is the full size job. Has anyone here seen these at the Met stations? It must be confusing to the general public as nowhere does it mention the train is for special ticket holders only.
Edit: I have just received a call back from the LTM. This poster will be displayed at Moorgate station platform 3 on the day, and beside it there is another infoming the public that the train is for special ticket holders only. It is a one off only at Moorgate, so be ready with your cameras.

For the general public the focus should be on the 26th.

It could be a good press moment for Boris to bang on about the new trains.
Would you like me to draft up a press release?

Regarding my earlier post on timings and stations on the poster I bought, it seems we are locked in at Chesham, which means the toilets are out of bounds.

My tickets have arrived today. Apologies to LTM for doubting them and believing all I read on an Internet forum.
Regarding my post of not being able to use the toilet at Chesham due to the the doors remaining closed, I had to smile when reading the accompanying letter advising everyone to plan their comfort breaks and quote, “Toilets are available at Moorgate Station before you leave, then at Harrow-on-the-Hill between 11.54 – 12.10, Amersham 12.43 – 13.30 and Wembley Park 15.52 at the end of the rail tour.”

I also received my ticket for the tour this morning, Dennis has made mention of TFL's advice to plan comfort breaks.
We are blessed out here at the Amersham/Watford end of the Met with an abundance of WC's but in travelling to/from Moorgate for over 20 years I don't ever recall there being any toilet facilities there.
TFL's online tube toilet map dated June 2012 (how things have progressed !) does not show toilets at Moorgate either.
Anybody know any different?

Good points. And having sold getting on nearly 400 tickets for the event... there are likely to be long queues. Are passengers allowed to call for a PNR?. If it is a real emergency can we use the red handle? ;D ;D ;D (only kidding!)

Then I called LTM who said yes and will call me back later today or Monday to confirm.

If it is a real emergency can we use the red handle? ;D ;D ;D (only kidding!) I was thinking the same, perhaps the queue should be organised in seniority order. ;D There is no guarantee they will even be open due to many reasons, my wife found the female toilets closed at Harrow-on-the-Hill on the day of the Amersham event. The platform toilets at Chesham are always reliable but you will need a J door key to get off the train. As far as I'm concerned that knocks it in on the head for me downing a few pints in the pub during the break at Amersham.

When LTM call you back Dennis perhaps it will be to tell you that we, the 400, will have to queue for a Portaloo somewhere outside the station that has been put in place for workers on the Crossrail project !!!

You'll have to be quick though, and I can see fights erupting to get to the facilities first! edit:oh I see - on the timetable, the TIME is emboldened... The station name is not.... Locked in then!

Not quite sure where you can have a quick pint near Amersham station. The nearest pub is a bit of a walk. The one close to the station closed years ago. Curry and a pint no problem though.
