Been following this thread for a while, and all the talk of the A Stock I have finally given in and will be heading out to grab some pictures. Can anyone recommend anywhere that isn't too far from a station and is quite easy to reach? Cheers

When LTM call you back Dennis perhaps it will be to tell you that we, the 400, will have to queue for a Portaloo somewhere outside the station that has been put in place for workers on the Crossrail project !!! I fear there may be some truth in that. LTM sent me an e mail late Friday with the subject title (Farewell to the A stock) but the message was blank. Oh well, I will have one more go Monday morning and will post here what they had to say.

IT IS OFFICIAL. LTM have just called me back to say they were misinformed and there are no toilets in Moorgate Station. Seems if you need to go before the train leaves there is a McDonald's close by. That should increase their trade.

This is looking a bit dicy. My wife (who bought me the tickets as a surprise - and ours still haven't showed up yet) is 23 weeks pregnant. Can any policemen on the tour please bring their helmets just in case!

Unfortunately my vounchers that come in the Metro expired on Sunday, I had tonnes of them if they were in date I would have actually gone down my carriage handing them out!

09.28 from Baker Street ran fast from Harrow and I think it had run fast from Finchley Road although it seemed to be on schedule and waited around at both Harrow and Moor Park to keep the slow train timings. Someone of the site had said it was scheduled to be a slow train. Nice to get a fast ride to Amersham as I commuted there for nearly 20 years. The 10.47 return from Amersham was all stations. Cars 5063 and 5034 at each end.

Have just got in from riding the last A Stock, for anyone intending to ride this afternoon, it left Amersham on time at 13.47 and was still ok when I alighted at Moor Park at 14.05.
Hopefully it is still running to schedule as I will be back at Watford later

The 10:47 Amersham to Aldgate approaching Willesden Green Whatever happened to single manning on the Underground? Silly me that's additional weight in the cab for adhesion trials! ;D XF

Took the last out of Aldgate. It was pretty full, especially as (much to some "normal"s surprise), hardly anyone got off gthe train at Aldgate! Only went as far as Wembley Park (I have other stuff to do this evening) but everyone seemed in good spirits. I was in the leading car - didn't see any custard though.
I would probably have got home more quickly if I'd stayed on to Harrow as, being a stranger in those parts, I managed to get on the wrong train to go back south and ended up in Kingsbury!

For me, just the usual Starbucks Chocolate Cream Frappuccino. Not sure about posting the picture of the blue-birds here even though its safe for work yet it has a romance'y feel to it.

Whatever happened to single manning on the Underground? Silly me that's additional weight in the cab for adhesion trials! ;D We were just the invisible entourage to stop the poor man on the handle from getting seriously mobbed (and near pushed over as a whole load of enthusiasts decided to pile past us and the fixed barriers at Aldgate when we were changing ends – seriously, people). As it happens though, my invisibility cloak wasn't working. Never fear however, for my weight is negligible... compared to all you lot sat behind us! (Also - whilst I'm here - I had quite a few people come up to me today to ask if I am the "3.1", but then they never introduce themselves or give me half a chance to ask who they are! PMs from those who are guilty! Including some chap who boarded my train at Northfields, walked up to the front to see if it was me, and then alighted at Hounslow East during the LTM Depot's last Open Weekend! Show yourselves!)

I shudder to think what Saturday would be like... remember what happened on the night of the last tram on 6th July 1952?

I cannot condone trespassing, but there was an awful lot of it going on! Aldgate was bad enough, but the folks going off down the ramp at Amersham, creeping closer and closer to track level when the train had the route cleared to shunt into the sidings...! *sigh* And there always has to be this scrum-like-frenzy once one person decides to be a hero and plough past a barrier! (And then this is when I wish they'd at least do one "staff train" trip!)I'm afraid I will have to Google this incident you speak of. It's before my time.

I was amused at the atmosphere in the first carriage, from confused elderly women (I just wanted to get home and I'm involved in this? Wow!) to people cheering at all the whistles, to singsongs. However, as the evening wore on I was not impressed with some of the behaviour. I was disappointed at the people climbing on the platform equipment and going past the barriers at Harrow - can't have imagined it was very nice for the person who was hurled abuse at for detraining it! (not sure if it was the driver or not) Overall, I think 99% of people were well mannered, in high spirits, and didn't mind the crowding!

The problem is, the 1% are those that mean that TFL may reconsider doing these types of things though... especially if they put themselves / others in danger on what is, after all, an operational railway at the time. I had hoped to get out for this, but I unfortunately forgot about it when I agreed to work last night
