Sorry to change the subject, but how many A Stocks are still in service? Going by what I've read on other forums, there must only be 3 or 4 left!

The reason for the ban is lack of toilet facilities, but as you say it is good news for those of us who don't want screaming infants ruining the atmosphere. PHEW! Lucky they didn't think of banning OAP's for the same reason!

As well as the more well known prostate related definition, PNR is an abbreviation of "Passenger Name Record" which sits quite nicely with the topic under discussion.
As far as screaming infants are concerned, this irritation is most certainly not restricted to just that age group. Last weekend I fished a small lake where I (and another) were forced to have a word with a group of pensioners boorishly shouting their heads off to each other each time they hooked a fish, thus ruining the tranquility for the rest of us anglers. Fortunately for all concerned they saw the error of their ways and kept quiet after that.

To explain to members who do not know the meaning of PNR, it stands for Physical Needs Relief – the driver needs to use the toilet. Can you explain for me and others what you mean by "PNR is an abbreviation of "Passenger Name Record" which sits quite nicely with the topic under discussion?" No one is saying noisy behavior is restricted to infants, but it is a fact of life that is their natural behavior. If you don't believe me have a visit to an infant school.

Yes, I know there is the other thread about a planned railtour, but I have a question about the actual railtour.
Yes, I'm going. Yes, I know it's expensive - but I'm an idiot.
In the past there has been the option to choose your seat/car. I'll be booking my ticket on Monday; any suggestions as to where would be best (assuming we get the choice).
I sense a forum meet coming on, but suspect the traditional "front DM" might be a little busy....

If you go for the rear it'll become the front at some stage so you'll be on top form??

The only forum member who will recognise me is Bronzeonion, probably thinking I am the fat controller. ;D

I think i'd try to reserve a seat over the wheel flat, for the true A stock experience.
(PNR in my life referred to an airline reservation, as held in the computer system. One indiividual record for each booking of one or more passengers, identified by a unique 6 (usually) digit code.)

Watford > Chesham > Harrrow > Amersham > ? > Uxbridge > Aldgate > Wembley Park.
Where would they reverse to get from Amersham to Uxbridge?

With tickets now on sale, I'm a little confused. It says "Under 16" but the site clearly states 11 to 16 which should mean inclusive, no? I'm going to go ahead anyway, but it could be clearer...

I find the retention of the four "ghost" A-stocks rather bizarre. If they are needed why are they not being used and if not why are four being retained?
The date for a last train in service seems absurd when they are not running at all and all this makes one ponder if maybe there is a potential situation with the S-stock.......
My point being that at what precise point does the need for four A-stock spares turn into zero. If it is not now then what will the situation be on September 26th-29th and if there is a need to retain them for longer than the 29th then how would that be explained to those who forked out for the farewell tour.
Who knows, maybe the 29th could be London Undergrounds first official resurrection tour!

This is a direct quote from the LTM.
"We understand that a unit of A60 stock will be kept by London Underground for track adhesion (Sandite) duties. The set will be maintained in a condition that should enable its occasional use on special passenger runs. A single car is also likely to be offered to the Museum collection"

If there was any logic they would provide cover for the S's returning to Derby.

I made the foolish decision of booking myself and the wife in there. I will have to look nearer the day to see if the trailers are less crowded.

Sorry to keep bringing it up but I just want to be sure about this. My dad bought tickets for one adult and one child on the basis that child meant 11-16 inclusive but the ticket says "Under 16" on it (which is awkward as I am 16 ). Which is correct, the LT Museum site or the booking office? Is it necessary to phone them or should I just wait to see what they say in a response to the email I sent this morning?

I have spoken to them a few days back on your behalf and posted to you that I was told 17 and/or over is considered as an adult. If you are still worried telephone them to confirm.
