Well don't buy the luggage racks and don't travel on the train. Simples, eek! Bit late for that now, still trying to figure out how to erect the thing! Not that I have one, but you would need to drill two holes at each side of the rack, and then with a masonry bit, drill and plug your wall, and then, hey presto. ;D

The problem I have is the wall is flat and the bracket curved, I started a separate thread about it but not had much response.

I was just about to say that. Use some card as a template first and do both sides at the same time by clamping together two pieces of wood. Watch "The New Yankee Workshop" on one of the Discovery Channels, a DIY program where Master Carpenter Norm Abraham shows us all what's possible with hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of power tools...............

Great programme - bung a tree in one end of the machine and at the other end out pops a dining room suite and a wardrobe - I want one of those machines. ;D

It is now official. From the "Vehicles on the move" page of the LTM: www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/events/vehicles-on-the-moveI just don't know if the "retail stand at Amersham Station" is a syphoning exercise or just a nice touch. Will the proceeds go for the charity also (at least partially)? And how much for the raffle? Also, no PDF of the route and timetable. Thankfully someone posted it here.

If they don't run any A-stock before then it will be more like a welcome tour!

There will be a retail stand at Amersham Station, where the Museum will be selling a selection of A Stock memorabilia and other related retail items. Crikey! How will I manage to carry the three person seat home with my bad back? ;D

So can under 16s travel without an adult on a children ticket? I'm afraid not, 11 and under are not allowed at all, and under 16s must travel with an Adult.

Just to be absolutely certain about this: "11-16" is inclusive of both 11 and 16 isn't it? As somebody of the latter age, I would like to be sure about this matter.

Since when did an A stock get a minimum age rating!!! I sometimes wonder whether its worth being an enthusiast for the Tube anymore; its not as if its future looks that engaging, and we're being priced out of the present...

At the age of 24 you are well in. ;D I do agree with you about the future, there is not a lot of character in new stock to be enthusiastic about.

I'd imagine the 11-16 is inclusive of the two ages... I'd also suspect there is some perfect (misguided, potentially) reasoning behind it for H&S/Insurance/Legal reasons - as an U16 can quite happily travel on standard tube trains without an adult.

Thanks. I'll be travelling with an adult anyway but it's good to know. I was also trying to make sure that I would be paying the right amount.

Depart Amersham 10.47 all stations to Aldgate (Harrow 11.19, Baker Street 11.40) arrive 12.00. Departs 12.12 back to Amersham, arrive 13.22 departs 13.47 to Aldgate. Depart Aldagate at 15.12.

Dean How many hours notice are there generally to confirm this trip will run? Obviously, being nearly a month before, it would be foolish to take these times as given yet. Can't make official last run on 29th, as I will be in Eastbourne. P.S. apologies to forum staff if my post unintentionally breaks the rule on "special train movements".

Dean I am very serious on this post, I will have to make special arrangements to be on that train, no doubt others here may also have to. If anyone can give credence to this I would be very grateful.

Just a quick flicker of a thought crossed my mind regarding 11-16 needing to be accompanied by an adult.
At what age does adulthood start?
Does that mean that someone who is 16 years and 11 months old cannot travel with someone else of that age but can travel with someone who is 17 years and one month old?
If there is a pre-stated minimum age for being an adult which is above 17, say 18, and a group of, say six booked for it, all of whom were 17 except for one who was a bit younger would he be barred?
What the hell is wrong with this world now anyway? I can recall long days out with friends on Red Rovers at age 11 or so to places like Battersea Fun Fair, cinemas, museums etc without any adults.
Mind you, I guess nowadays even if anyone under 17 did it without an adult they would probably need an adult to drive them to the station to start the tour and collect them afterwards.

I would expand that logic to say that, in theory, somebody who is a day short of their 17th birthday could travel with somebody who turned 17 on that actual day, and still be considered to be 'accompanied by an adult'. But they'd be in big, big trouble if their journey commenced before midnight the previous day ...

The ban on those under 11 seems a bit harsh but on the other hand look on the bright side, you won't have to put up with any screaming infants,...... and quite rightly so because it is a noisy piece of mechanical equipment and not a concert, theatre or cinema which is of course where they should be,
