This might have already been asked so I'm sorry if it has but I couldn't see it anywhere. How would I go about finding out the s stock timetable on the met line? cheers

I am going to take a trip into London sometime this week hopefully, to see some S-Stock. Can anyone give me more up to date information regarding timings now the Uxbridge/AmerChesham branch is getting more S-stock trains and they are now venturing into the city as well?

I get the impression now that if one just stands somewhere like Harrow, and waits, there's a good chance that a train of S stock will turn up, going somewhere, after not too long a wait. It's worked for me on random occasions recently!

Their tend to more around in the week Yes - during the week does seem to be the best bet. I caught one randomly from Rayners Lane last Friday evening. It seemed to get itself a bit 'lost' at Harrow, though - the automated information systems started saying that the train was terminating at Farringdon and that the next station would be Liverpool Street! This did cause some amusement! ;D

Terminating at Farringdon?! I would wait at Harrow if you want to see one.

Yes I have caught them before, Baker St - HOTH and Baker St - Northwick Park a few times (and almost Wembley Park - Baker St but it was seemingly running early by 4 minutes!) and I'll probably end up at Harrow looking - was just wondering where the more out of the ordinary (not BST-WAT) workings would happen as well

T441 is now on its way to Uxbridge and I just missed it thanks to not being able to get a platform at Baker St on my inbound train Knew it was there and thought it would just be going back to Watford - now rushing up towards there to see if I can catch it on the way back from Uxb

Just a small word of warning to those hunting the trains.
At present we are having to regularly divert the normal Watford S-stock services to Uxbridge - with the following Uxbridge diverted to Watford to cover. This is to step up driver familiarisation of the Uxbridge branch.
It does mean, however, that the S-stocks may turn up at Harrow slightly off-path, and can sometimes mean we have to "massage" other timings to ensure large gaps do not appear in the service.
I cannot give much warning of what will go where, as it is done on a day-by-day basis dependant on which drivers are on duty. The afternoon trips of 451 are certainly now becoming regular for diversion - with the train also doing the Amersham route occasionally. Also reversing via Neasden depot at some point during the afternoon is also becoming regular.
Sorry for the messing around, but in order to roll out the fleet, the drivers need the training.

No problem - I liked the diversion (and having to run around getting a bus to South Harrow from HOTH as no Uxbridge service was due for 14 minutes apparently, so I decided to go to Rayners Lane to catch 441 coming back!
(and when it was held at HOTH I loved the people confused by the doors closing after 45 seconds - especially the person who ran into the doors as they were closing, then stared at me in amazement as I opened them again to find a litter bin)
Was there any working to Aldgate today that I missed?

If S Stock is now ok going everywhere in passenger service.... Why do they still haunt the same duties? Surely if there is more UXB road training required then why not put one on a more appropriate duty for the day rather than reschedule trains on a more adhoc bases?

I would imagine there is more to it than may seem obvious looking in from the outside.
For starters driver training will follow some sort of plan and that will more than likely mean drivers are taken off their normal duties and specifically scheduled to drive S stocks in the pre planned paths. They will require an instructor operator to be present in the cab - that will also require some form of pre planning.
All drivers will need to go through the same basic training; that is they will have to drive the S stock over prescribed routes a set number of times - another reason for following the pre set paths. There may well be an element of flexibility should a driver request/a training be identified that they have more time over a certain section; that's where the ad hoc stuff may come into play.
First & foremost though, it'll be very much about ensuring all drivers receive the same consistent training over the same paths.

Not long before the question will be Is there a good chance of seeing an A60/A62 stock at Chalfont and Latimer this evening and if so what sort of time? The answer in the not to distant future will be - No chance Xerces Fobe

I spotted a train of S stock at Wembley Park this evening, at about 20.00. It was sitting in the n/b fast platform, empty - and reversed into Neasden depot after the A stock train that I was on had berthed in the n/b slow platform.
(I'd had to divert from my usual route home thanks to a power supply problem at Berkhamsted. I'd not seen the concourse at Euston so crowded for ages!)

Only train I can see that would fit that (out of the ones previously posted) would be a T451 19:45 Baker St-HotH run cut short at Wembley

Quite likely, I'd say. Unfortunately I only got a side view, as the Uxbridge train that I was on pulled into Wembley Park.
(The Northwick Park to Kenton walk, then on to the DC, can be useful when LM is up the spout!)

Oh I've done that before but it was because I wanted to go to Willesden Junction but on arrival at Baker Street found an S-stock so instead of going on the Bakerloo I did that route (shame the barriers at Northwick Park wrecked the magstrip on my travelcard and for the next 12 hours I had to show my travelcard to everyone on the barriers, in about 1/3 of cases them 'teaching' me how to insert the travelcard into the ticket gate - then going red when what I told them would happen happened!)

Wonder why the barriers at Northwick Park wrecked the magstrip on your travelcard - ? I'd have thought that Kenton to Northwick Park was an 'approved' interchange.

Saw my first S Stock on Tuesday whilst travelling to Uxbridge. It was around 7:30pm at Finchley Road heading to Baker Street!

Is there a good chance of seeing an S stock at Chalfont and Latimer this evening and if so what sort of time? The regular Mondays to Fridays Train 465 at 2342 at Chalfont on the north, and 0007 on the south. Although given you posted this yesterday and I'm replying today, you may have already found that out ;D
