Seems as if more than one train is now getting the infamous red front CAB, are they all to be replaced?

So only two months to go before the May 2012 deadline. I can't see every train being refreshed by this time, given the fact I've not travelled on one fully refreshed train yet. I've only travelled on half-finished jobs i.e. just the moquette changed and nothing else.

Indeed the last Central Line train I was on had brand new seat covers but the inside of the end doors had so much graffiti removed that there was barely any paint left on them. The Digital switchover train looks clean from the outside, but I've not had a proper look. I've seen it going the opposite way to me at Buckhurst Hill in both directions now though!

It's a crying shame. So much pointless damage done. It was never like this in the days of the Guard. Vandalism by brainless morons who find it so much easier to destroy than to create...........All coming to an EVOstuck train near you............

I rode the cushions on the Digi train last night, the interior walls and doors were noticeably shiny, either deep cleaned or new but the paint on the grab rails was still chipped.

What, you mean that they won't be ready for the Olympics?!?!?! I'm stunned, LUL missing a deadline, I've never heard of that......

I've seen quite a few 92ts now with the new Red Front CAB so it seems possible that they are couting the CAB's as End Panels and replacing them too.

Ceiling Cat and I took a look at a cab being replaced in Ruislip depot the other day. One would think that the old cab would simply be unscrewed/unriveted removed and replaced. It's not as simple as that. From what I could see the old cab is cut/peeled away leaving a right old mess. All the wiring and relays are left dangling out waiting to be put back when the new cab is installed/plonked on front. It must take ages to put it all back in the right order and to get it working again...........
The new cab and rear ends do look good, especially with the new window surrounds, laminating and new seats.* Some units going round look like they've just come from the factory as brand new. Pity the saloons can't be tarted up too.........
*I like the design, but hate the colour. The Smurf Blu clashes horribly with the red grab poles and is out of phase with the line colour scheme as a whole. I wish they'd gone for a nice Burgundy instead..............

Any chance Ceiling Cat could go for a run with a camera around Ruislip depot, photographing the cab replacement? ;D

Do you know what. We nearly took a picture of that cab, but we didn't on account we were both desperate for the litter tray and had to make a dash for it. Next time we're down there we'll keep a look out..........

I wonder if it's still like that today? *I like the design, but hate the colour. The Smurf Blu clashes horribly with the red grab poles and is out of phase with the line colour scheme as a whole. I wish they'd gone for a nice Burgundy instead.............. I completely agree. The train I caught last night from Woodford to Wanstead [1] still had the red seats, the first I've seen in a while, and it is so much nicer on the eyes than the blue seats. Pitty they aren't as nice on the rear end. [1]For the 101 to Gallions Reach, avoiding the DLR replacement buses you know I love so much. Although the advertised 48 minutes was closer to 58 minutes.

I used to think the blue was horrible but I went on the Central yesterday for the first time in a while and I have to say I quite like the blue now. The red looks dingy and just dirty!

I don't really like any of these so called new seat designs. The Red seats on the 92 look fine when they are clean, they are also Red the colour of the line which I thought was the whole friggin point!

Seat colours and (to a lesser extent) grab poles matching the line colour was a deliberate design strategy to emphasise line identities. More recently a different design strategy has been chosen that instead emphasises corporate identity above line identity. In that context, blue seats are better than red. Personally I think that moving away from line identities wasn't a brilliant idea (as it aids people knowing they are on the right line), but as I'm not a design consultant earning megabucks my opinion counts for nothing.

I definatly think that line identity should be retained! I do this that the S Stock, 95 and 96 Stock and now the 92 Stock have not got that! It appears that the newer trains (92 onwards) have lost it completely. But on the other hand the blue seat covers look clean and the hand poles have remained red!

The same with the 1973 stock, the original seat design was replaced by poolines boring corporate blue. The same as on the 95 and 6.

The 73ts, 96ts and 95ts have recieved 'Tube Lines Moquette' which is a rubbishy, supposed to be, photorealistic water with funny squares in it. Bring back the previous moquettes!

I feel obliged as a punter to report that the 92ts are leaking rain water from the ventilator. The seats are protected though, all the humans occupying the seats didn't seem to mind a drip of water every 5 seconds! The ventilator was noticeably in the closed position. Sort it out for pete sakes...

Noticed a leaking problem with the Central line trains some years ago, had water pouring down my neck when sitting on a middle seat. Since then have always checked the seats dry before sitting down! Luckily not happened since.

Looks like they've started applying vinyl's to the doors windows on the 92ts.
Also...have they done a u-turn on the new lighting or have I seen by chance the same train that had the prototype lighting some time ago?

Does anyone know what the latest is with the behind schedule refresh? The target was May this year, but the only thing they managed to meet in time was the replacement of seating. What about the other aspects of the project?
