Looking at the pictures of the blue moquette designs for the seats doesn't go well on the trains...considering the line colour is red, but then, that is just my opinion. The smaller windows look weird as well, especially as you can still see where the original windows were don't know if that can be helped though. Other than that, the train does look a lot better than the others in the background...doubt it'll be long before that unit ends up like the rest

It's almost as if for the 1992 stock, they picked the worst features from all three 1986 prototypes! The seats look comfortable in all three prototypes!! I can't recall if I even rode on a 1986 stock train.

I can't recall if I even rode on a 1986 stock train. The blue and red trains appear to have quite comfortable seats, however, when I visited the LT Museum Depot I managed to try out the seats on the green train and they were most uncomfortable!

Despite several arttempts to find one, I never got a ride on a 1986 train either

I have further news about the Central line refresh:
1) The Dot Matrix Indicators are not going to be improved 2) The train exteriors will be 'body filmed' (an alternative to painting) which is a film that can be easily stripped off and replaced, especially when trains are graffitied. This will also enhance the overall appearance of the train. 3) The plan is for all trains to be completed by May 2012
As we already know the four main things happening to the trains are the new moquette, windows being replaced with a tighter fit (no sealing) and the replacement of each body shell at each end of the carriage.

Well I haven't seen a 92ts which had a DMI which was unreadable for quite some time now. There are a few...probably just need a wash.

I can remember the blue, green and red 1986 trains parked up at Woodford platform 1. We walked through them and had a good old look around for some time. Despite this, I really can't remember thinking that the seats in the three were different to one another, in fact I can't recall having a preference for any of the other different features either. It's one of those situations where you wish you had a second chance at it as hindsight is a a great thing! With a wiser head, and an on-line forum like this one way back then the resulting 92TS may have been substantially different!

You mean the kind of change the 09ts experienced between the mock up and the production line? .....

Has that refurbished train been in service yet? I certainly haven't driven or even seen one yet.

I have even more news regarding the refresh project. Contrary to what this image shows, the lighting will not be modified on any further units

You mean the kind of change the 09ts experienced between the mock up and the production line? ..... I remember seeing the 92 stock mock up at the LT museum. The seats in that were very comfortable, unlike the production 92's! Out of interest, how was the 09 mock up different from the production run - I never got the chance to see the mock up.

The 09TS prototype differed very little from the production trains.
The seats were just as upright and uncomfortable and the side windows just as small.
All this was pointed out at the time, which just shows how little notice was taken of the comments left in the vistors' book.

I've not used the tip-up seats on a production 09, but I believe these are much better than on the mockup - that they apparently still not "good" shows how horrendous they were! I left a lot of comments on the mockup (I think version 3.1 has a photo of me writing them somewhere) and it was the mockup seats that I was most scathing about. I took a photo of my comments, but I'm pretty sure that that was one of the sets I lost in a backup failure about 3 years ago now

Any regular commuters on the Central Line would have noticed that all 92ts now have new inter-car barriers.
I'm guessing the Mile End accident had partly something to do with this actioning. Stand behind the yellow line you donut!

Well I finally saw the trial refurb train, only a glimpse as it was on another platform. The windows don't look impressive as they obviously aren't flush with the body. The seating looked nice and certainly made the interior look bright from a distance. I also saw a few trains with refurbished cab ends.
I still think the train interior panels could do with a wash. Where the stickers have fallen off you can see how dirty they really are! A simple deep scrub down would really brighten up the interior's. When you walk onto a Jubilee Line train the panels are shiny and the train smells clean. Some simple maintenance is needed here and as this isn't being done it hasn't helped with the dull, dirty and dusty effect.
I would gladly volunteer to do this since the Central Line fails when it comes to keeping the interior clean...makes me wonder about the hand rails or as I like to call them...the aids rails.

I had 91171/92171 on the last West Ruislip Friday night, with the new blue seats, new windows and fresh paint work but it had the old "box" lighting rather than flush to the ceiling.

I've been anxiously looking for pictures of one the refurbs other than the ones in this thread but can't find anything anywhere and the video above doesn't seem to work. If anyone knows of any, I'd love to see them. Thanks

If anyone knows of any, I'd love to see them. Thanks Not refurbs, more a refresh. I've yet to see a complete train. There's a couple or so running about that are half n half. 91171 is one unit that comes to mind. It has new window frames and the cab looks more or less tape free. It has the new moquette, which incidently shows the dirt as much as the original *sex* fabric. Also it still has the original bogies underneath. All in all, not much difference, but take your sunglasses just in case you get on one. The Bloooooo moquette is quite psychedelic and if you've had a few before boarding, something to vom up in. Initially I quite liked it, the Bloooooo that is. Novelty value and something different I suppose, but now I think it looks vile and out of place as it's not Central Line at all, and as I said, it shows the dirt too. That is if you can see the seats under all the litter and free papers. But you might think different...............

So one complete train at least...................All to be done by March next year............... ..............Know the driver. It was Father Abraham ( RMT ) - He turned all his punters into little Smurfs with sunglasses by getting em to sit on the Bloooooooooo. Poor little things, I saw them get off and struggle to touch out........

What do you mean by 'new' inter car barriers? By this I mean the barriers that stop drunk gooks falling in the space between cars.

Traveled on one of the new trains with the lighting as well. The seats do look better in real life rather than in photos, I quite like them. Never seen any of the refurbs before so that was my first time yesterday. And then today, sitting at LES and see one roll in on the WB. Seems like I see everything at once. Same was true with blocked middles, traveled on one three days ago, seen another three since then!
