Just to clarify though, the one main thing that passengers have always complained about, the seat 'cushions', have not changed? Sans moquette. From what I’ve heard the seats were going to be replaced as part of the refurb for the Olympics with a lighter frame that would make lifting them up to get at the kit underneath a lot easier but since then every indication is that due to cutbacks they will simply be reupholstered with the new blue moq. Can’t say whether they would have been any more comfortable than the current ones. I was fortunate enough to bring 91183/92183 out of Ruislip depot Sunday morning and took a couple of snaps of the new windows and the saloon interior while I was waiting for the shunters to call me up to the outlet signal. If I can work out how to upload them here I will otherwise I’ll post them on my website at some point.

You *can* upload them to here, but the limit is microscopic, so I'd say that uploading them to a hosting site would be far easier, and linking back from there. If you're unsure, PM me, and I'll give you an e-mail address to ping them over to, and I'll edit your post accordingly

I'm not a big fan of the smaller windows but otherwise these new seat covers are very nice indeed.
I would have though that they'd go to a bit more effort on the interior of the trains though. Also interior LED screens are slowly popping up everywhere these days, any plans for these on the 92ts?

I’m not sure they were smaller, the photo of the saloon seems to suggest that they are the same size as before. I think this unit was just a trail for the windows, the new upholstery and the new lights, not sure if the full refurb will go further but I do know that it was scaled down from the original intention due to the general lack of spondoolicks. At best they might repaint the grab poles but I doubt if they’ll shell out for anything other than that. No plans at all to put LED screen displays on the 92s that I’m aware of and where would you put them anyway, even the advertising frames over the seats have got cables and wires behind them!

Looks like someone 'funnied' the TD...
That does look a great deal better though. Hope to spy it sometime soon!

Blast! I was going to post that! "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the 92TS: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six."

The trains aren't going to be empty so people aren't going to see the furniture. Is anything else happening to the Interior...if not the lighting will be the only thing noticeable on a busy train.

Looking very nice apart from the exterior window seals! From the blurb we were given last year about the refurb they have been redesigned so that they can be replaced quicker, it looks as if the whole frame comes out rather than having to get the glass out of the frame. Considering we were under fire from some air rifle totting scallywag not long ago this is not a bad idea. I wonder where the destination was set to The foul abode of damned souls, I changed it to Epping, I'll let you draw your own conclusions. I have to confess...I can't see what is different about the lights Next time your on a 92 take a look, notice the light covers protrude about half an inch, on the refurb ones they are flush with the ceiling.

I have to confess...I can't see what is different about the lights Feels like being a million times brighter. The current "in" thing seems to be to have to have train & station lighting so bright that your eyes hurt. Maybe this is to make it look like the infrastructure has actually been cleaned properly ?

No, its only the lightbulbs that they have cleaned, as with the lights and LEDs on 92ts

Thanks for the pictures! I have to say I find the blue and red combination a bit sickly... Windows quicker to change with the new frames I hear you say. Probably have windows replaced on the road now! "Stay in service driver, we'll get the fitter-glazer out".

Probably have windows replaced on the road now! "Stay in service driver, we'll get the fitter-glazer out". Apart from us not really happy with the idea of being in service with a broken window I think it highly unlikely the DDM is going to dispatch one of their fitters with a replacement window to meet us. Can just imagine them now staggering along the road out of Hainault or Ruislip depots lugging a replacement window on their shoulder and squeezing onto train fully of passengers. Maybe not......

Think the blue livens up the interior better... Mind you, the original moquette would have looked just the same if it had been put through a 60° wash with plenty of that stain remover in a pink tub with the ever-so annoying advert!

Personally I'm a big fan of the interior from of the 1986ts Prototype Red Train. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1986-Prototype-Red-Inside.jpgOne thing I don't understand is why the 1992ts was built without LED screens. All the 1986ts Prototypes had them, so the technology was there. EDIT: link fixed

They had a big route map bar across the whole length of the windows. Hardly practical. Seen here it all looks so Sheena Easton eighties, greys and reds. Still, I kinda like it. Also weren't they prone to de railing? tinypic.com/r/fad5zb/7 << The wiki link won't work. Regarding the new seat covers. Not so much "better" but it looks plusher, cleaner. That vivid blue does come as a bit of a shock after the SEX moquette as it kind of *leaps out at you* And the disabled/pregnant/infirm design for priority seats is naff. The sticker above the seat is enough. www.bbc.co.uk/news/10586117

Deep Level: the reason why they didn't put the LED screens inside the '92 stock cars was because of budgetary constraints. I agree with your point about the red prototype having a great interior; I particularly like the lighting.
From other threads, no one ever seems to come forward with information about the screens. All I can assume is people have forgotten - after all, the last time they were in service was August 1989 on the Jubilee line.

Change the seat covers and it would look far more modern than 96/95 or even 09ts! If only the 92ts was exactly like the red train inside

The entire door at the end of each car is glass! This 86ts is bi-winning!
