Well had no luck there. I went via customer services in the end. Thursday 13th September I have a meeting with Network Rail at Waterloo and was requesting that as it is my 50th birthday was there any chance an A60/2 stock could be put into service on the evening rush hour on that day. I was referred to the railtour on 29th.
what i wrote back...........
Many thanks for your reply.
I was wondering as there remain 4 serviceable units maybe one could be put in service on September 13th.
If this is too troublesome a request then I understand but as I am not often in London I would love to finish my meeting in Waterloo and travel on an A60 on the Metropolitan line.
Thanks again for your help. Regards
Dear Mr Hinton
Thank you for your contacting us once again.
In light of the numerous requests concerning the last A-stock train, I'm afraid we cannot grant individual request, hence we have take the approach to organise a day for all who would be interested.
I'm sorry if this is not the response you hoped for, however, we hope that you would be able to join the tour on 29 September.
Thank you for contacting us.
Kind regards
Oby Ibegbulam

Have fun Harrowman I assume naturally you'll be paying a visit to the NNR? Nice to see that people from my old haunts are coming in to liven the place up a bit.

For some reason that reminded me of Thomas the tank engine. I can just imagine it now... “You're in a lot of trouble 5118 and 5189.” said the fat controller ;D

Are there any cuttings that they could hide in like 'Oliver The Great western Engine' did when he escaped?

Think it is either unit 5022 or 5090. I expect this train to go first. 5094+5103 is still on the Klondyke. There is a 4 car unit at the northern end of the depot and the other half on the bank to the back of the depot. Nice to see 5234 having a check up today.

I fear that it may be 5034+5063, as 5034 was poorly in July.

Yes, PCM or whatever it's called failed to react when power applied from my observations on 5034, I've got a feeling 5034 will be the car which will become the static display one at the LTM as it is part of a historical unit (5008) which was coupled with 5004 on the first A stock in passenger use.

They may have tried to get the stopped unit ready for service, but instead were forced to use 5189+5118 for yesterday's 445.

5034 (renumbered to 5008) should be the car in the museum but it probably won't be.....

Now that we've nearly reached the end of London 2012, I was wondering whether a TTN/STN has been issued yet to cover the residual A Stock scrap moves?

Wake me up when September ends. I suspect they will be leaving all well alone until then; that's when the cow gets its last milking after all!

and another A stock made a bid for freedom yesterday out and about as T403 numbers unknown. i know the cinderella stocks are back to their old tricks and seem to be losing shoes again but i wonder if these A stock trips are more to do with giving units running time in advance of last workings rather than a shortage of S stocks.
