Enjoy your Annual Leave Colin. Thank you for the observation update. It won't have been Unit 5134/35 that you saw as that Unit was in passenger service on the Met this morning. More likely it was Unit 5154/55 which I've not sighted during the past ten days or so.

Unless formations have changed since I was last down in London, that leaves 5130 uncoupled to anything....

Maybe see you at Acton. Possibly - I can't promise though for personal reasons... Thank you for the observation update. It won't have been Unit 5134/35 that you saw as that Unit was in passenger service on the Met this morning. More likely it was Unit 5154/55 which I've not sighted during the past ten days or so. Yes, that's entirely possible as I was having trouble seeing the 3rd number

My friend wants to buy one for posterity. How much? £1500 for a DM and £1000 for a trailer.

5130 In service today, trust me not to see the other unit Ah grand! Never mind on the other one, graeme186 is usually up to date on formations, so he may be the one to ask. 5130 was starting to have me worried, I hadn't seen it for ages....

Both 5092/93 and 5154/55 have returned from Upminster and are back in service.

5066( last years RAT ) is being stripped of parts at Neasden, and is down for scraping. It has been reformed back into its standard formation. WHAT!!! Why? Surely it is foolish to scrap a double ender and loose flexibility?

Which unit is going with it? My bet is on 5161.

5066/67 has not returned to passenger service since completion of its RAT duties in December. Therefore, I'm not surprised to hear of this news kindly provided by bullhead. I had wondered whether it might have been kept back to perform this autumn's RAT duties but that will clearly not happen. My records show that 5066/67 was last used in passenger service early on during w/c 20/09/10.

I suppose that these will have to go by road from Neasden as opposed to Northwood.

Possibly not. I depends what is needed. They go by road at some point anyway. There is a thread on why they can't go by rail, out of gauge I think. I'm sure 161 is going too.

Why would they have to go by road? Only the luggage racks are gone arnt they? If 5066 has been stopped since December, I think a bit more would have been gone. You never know though, they could have done it more or less the same way in which 5179 was done. As for 5161, my betting is firmly on it, but the damaged bogie may have have it deemed unsafe for the move to Northwood. Why do the A62s suffer from damage so much? When it comes down to disposing of 6234 or 6235, it would have to go from Neasden. EDIT: That is unless, it's put into 5 car formation like in days gone by.

I doubt they'll do that as the train was a bit underpowered by all accounts. So 5234 is going to be withdrawn from passenger service? I'd keep the deicing car 6234 as it is more useful as a stand alone unit.

Which unit is going with 5066? If any? If deadmans was as right about 5132 as he was about 5179, that'll be it.

Saw 5132 at Harrow today on the Watford/Chesham serivce. It looked nice and clean, hope that won't be going. Maybe we'll be lucky and just loose 4 cars on this occasion!

Maybe not, I'm surprised that 5066/7 is going as early as this. I agree, it is rather foolish lose flexibility. On the cleanliness front, one of the 503x units is filthy.

I was under the impression they were keeping an A stock as a RAT train for the foreseeable future as they have done on the central.
Is there another RAT carriage on the met?

No just 6036. I don't think the plan is to keep the RAT that long although it would be great if it was!

5234 is going to be the RAT unit until signalling rolls-out in 2018.

Well you would assume a train that is going to be cut up within the year would not be worth repairing! I'm chuffed she's back on the rails!

More news from youtube's toppackage; according to him, some A Stock will be going into warm-storage at West Ruislip just in case there are more problems. Until 2015 apparrently, really not sure if this is true, where are prjb and graeme186 when you need them?
Forgive me for saying this, but does this not seem somewhat unrealistic?
