The only car remaining in service that is of historical value is 5034, of course would be need some cosmetic work doing to it. Furthermore, which other 4-car is going to be diverted from the claw?

With 23059's arrival tonight effectively an S8 delivery for the Met Line, I anticipate that another 8-Cars of A Stock will go on Monday.
For the record, 5100+5203 arrived in Northwood Engineers' Siding at 1256.

Went on 5090 this morning at 7am at Kings Cross while heading to Liverpool St, looks like it could be my last ride on an A stock.  |

So 7 trains left. Given TfL want to retain a few A stocks during the Olympics for emergencies, perhaps next week will be the last duet of T717s for a while?

7X09 has been vandalised in Dorridge loop apparently (Thats the S stock delivery due tonight) What happened? graffitied? windows broken? did the train then return to Derby? Many thanks for any further info. As for A stock scrap runs, there'll probably be another 3 before the Olympics, if TfL want to keep 4 hot spares for the games. Could it be that the last 3 remaining A62s will go with the last 3 remaining single-ended A60s? This is probably not what will happen, just my speculation, but we shall see. Going on the tube to look for a ride on an A Stock for the last time on Saturday. Know about the Met Line suspensions but does anyone know if there will be any A Stocks running and what side of the suspension will be the best place to look?  |

Well, yes, 'tis a shame. Tis a shame, they've got 30-40 years ahead of them and they have already been defaced. A lot of film replacement ahead of them in this life, especially as the Met still seems to suffer more than most with petty vandalism.
The best we can hope for is for at least one A in service this weekend.

well sitting on the outside one thing has struck is the fact how they sit back and let this happen,it costs time and money to put right.they have done enough damage to the A stock.it doesnt make a pleasant environment when a train in that condition pulls up,creates an instant fear for the rest of the journey.
because they get away with it this encourages further damage.the writing is on the wall as it were and if something isn't done these are going to be just as bad in a relative short time.
at least the A stock had twenty or so years before this behavior became prevalent.

That was they way with 5010/11, 5092/3, 5218/9 before they got decomissioned. Presented a climate of fear indeed. Every stock unfortunately will go downhill this way - what didn't help was the fact that many didn't get cleaned properly.

Has there been a mega cull of A Stock overnight? The Wikepedia site updated this afternoon only shows four units remaining in service 5034 - 5112 - 5116 - 5118. I enjoyed yesterday travelling on 5022 - 5116 and finally 5231. Six units in traffic during the evening peak. Have we more or less reached the end story? Does anyone know more?

I would assume everything is formed as it were yesterday. Just curious at the update on Wikepedia. That info must have come from somewhere. Is it correct? I should of course have said six trains in service yesterday. If only those four units now survive in service that means only two trains left. I may of course be going quite mad down here on the Isle of Wight having returned home from the Met Line last night. Does anyone know where units are stabled. With this weekends engineering work it might be Monday before the real situation reveals itself.

Any A stock running today? I know there was a runour that yesterday was their last day in normal service (non peak) but I thought they are running till (last unit) September which was what I was told? Just saying as my mate told me from his friend who works on the underground.

No a stocks running at all today. Spent all afternoon looking for one but there weren't any either side of the suspension. The only one I did see was stabled at watford but not in service. This must mean that today is the first day in which a met line has been provided using entirerly s stock. So sad  |
