Probably August then? This is bad news for A stock fans! Think positively! The hours of nostalgia subsequently spent posting on here or talking to other A Stock enthusiasts, wherever they may be around the world, will more than make up for their absence.

Probably August then? This is bad news for A stock fans! I can't see much happening over the period of the Olympics. It may be that by the end of June, there may be a small number of 'A' Stock trains confined to peak periods only and this situation may continue throughout the Olympic period?

When it arrived at Watford it was Show T714 , yet other end showed T717. was there a reason for that?

5222, 6222, 5019 and 6019 all departed for scrap today. Allelys back on site this evening to take 5018 and 6018 away in the morning.
Site then clear in readiness for the arrival of 5076+5193 at lunchtime. All very efficient.

As I understand it they have previously operated two low loaders shuttling back and forth; if they have now switched to four this represents a significant increase in costs.

Why? assuming they have the vehicles available the fuel, man-hours etc are the same either way - twice the resources tied up for half the time.

Your logic is correct but don't forget that low loaders are expensive assets which are not likely to be sitting idle. LU will have negotiated a contract for the two vehicles on a long term rate. Unless the contract has a contingency clause for extra units to be deployed at set times, which is most unlikely due to the lack of visibility, they will pay a premium for additional lorries at short notice.

I saw one car of A-stock on the back of an Allely's low loader on the n/b M1, jn15A at around 5.30 this evening. Very sad sight.
