So how do propose to run the Met service then?
The A stock are fair more reliable than the S stock so until the S stock are capable of doing their job, I wouldn't scrap any A stock!

Taking into account the S Stocks were kept in a nice warm depot during the snow last year. Do we know how they will cope in the snow this year when they need to be used?

Not sure but I would expect so. I think this is why a de-icing unit was chosen. If you recall, the pass few years have seen a normal double ended unit operate as the RAT. Most recently 5062 and 5066. Perhaps the thought now is the unit is somewhat of an all rounder and could operate as a sleet train in the winter, especially at night time.

The RAT is always booked to convey a de-icing trailer, it is after all the first scheduled train to traverse many sections of the railway

If it has, then it begs the question why I knew nothing about it.

All the D's were on up the North end the other afternoon when I came in, despite the fact there was No Risk. They were soon turned off, however the Jub decided they would have theirs on, and as a result, at a couple of stations, ours ended up briefly On again!! ;D ;D

Hi.
What's the current state of play with regards to A Stock withdrawals ? - There doesn't appear to have been any more taken out of service for a number of weeks now (not that I am complaining) - is this going to remain the case for the forseeable future whilst the S Stock gremlins are ironed-out, or is this simply a timetabled break with more withdrawals due to re-commence in the new year after the festivities ?
Regards,
Terry.

Well, I saw 5074-6074-6075-5075 heading through Harrow on the Hill on 21st November at 12:07... not sure if any more have gone since then. I would have thought at least one or two 4 car sets, but the detail may be on here already!

We'll, I'm happy to say that no A stocks have been withdrawn and TFL has once again, not accepting any S stock deliveries until the current issues have been resolved. The Class 20's have also returned back to thier depot so i suspect that there won't be any deliveries for quite a while.

What's the story for this Monday (9/1/12) then? Is it on? Do we know the units?

There has been no S8 delivery this week and as we know, even when one does turn up (next week?), it takes about a week to commission a delivered unit for service. I would have thought a week Monday would be a possibility if an S8 is delivered next week.

I'm afraid not.
Next Monday's scrap move will run, and at present the units concerned will be...
5227 & 5010
