I suspect (lest one becomes a dud) that the double-enders will probably be very late for withdrawal, due to the additional flexibility offered in the event of a cab failure (God forbid). I think that the last A62 will see service a month or two before the end of all A Stock passenger services on the Met.

At least this temporary halt in A stock withdrawals should ensure that a couple of four-car sets are available for the Chesham shuttles in January. I presume they're still 'on'? Never knew they were on!

The retention of some double ended 4 cars would have been ensured for this purpose regardless of any delays currently being experienced Last Chesham shuttle (from memory) likely to be in February

Oh, so presumably S8 deliveries have [or will be] resumed?

What is going with 5074? 5191 was seen in service this morning. 5227 was running with 5040 the other day?
I guess S8 deliveries will start again?

Could be 5014 as it hasn't worked since the 09/11.

Unlikely as both are 'A' end units, so it will need to be a 'D' end A62 unit.

Been informed by a source (you know who you are!) that 5074 is on 717 now, on it's own.

Just one unit. not worth repairing in the coming months.

How can one unit go by it's self. Can it power its self to go into the sliding? does anyone know what was wrong with the 5074?

Even with a 4-car unit, it should simply be a case of getting the train up to speed and then coasting to the required place. If the siding is on a downhill gradient then the task is even easier. If the train were to become stalled, gap jumper leads could be used to get it moving again. The only issue is ensuring the train does not run out of air during the time it is coasting, however unless something goes wrong this should not be a problem.

There is actually no problems driving from the UNDM end. 5075 has all the controls that 5074 has in terms of actually driving and braking. It lacks the built in radio equipment, door control bottons, missile proof glass, one windscreen wiper, a calling on light and all the other bits required for OPO. It however, does have enough for the short run from Watford to Northwood for its final trip.

Thank you for the advice UndergroundDriver. Fortunately, I had the camcorder in the briefcase just in case there was something last minute in respect of A stock disposal today and so was able to get up there to film it. I was then doing some work in Costa in the High Street when just before 2pm, two Alleys low loaders turned up! I'm therefore not surprised to hear that 5075 and 6075 have gone already.

I spotted 5074-6074-6075-5075 heading through Harrow On The Hill at about 12.07 on Monday.
Later spotted it at Northwood... at 15.37. 6075 was already on a low loader with another being winched up as I arrived.

I've been told there won't be one, despite the Timetable Notice for one. I guess we'll have to wait (and wait and wait) and see ...

Unfortunately, 5128+5164 'stalled' on the points heading northbound on train 442. Detrained in the platform. Hopefully this doesnt go on 717 today

Thanks, as I did not fancy standing around for something that most likely not coming, went and video the RAT pass at Rayner Lane again before that ends for the year. aim to go and video the next scrapper instead

Certainly nothing in Northwood tonight.
Also, the peak requirement is increased by a couple of trains from next Monday 12/12/11. Presumably this increase has to be factored in somewhere with regards to 'A' stock disposals / 'S' stock deliveries?

nothing next week, and given the fact the met is failling to provide enough trains for service.... we should be ok until the current problems are sorted. ;D

They seem to be repeated door faults and intermittent traction problems from what I keep reading.

Surely the sooner the A Stocks are scrapped the better. Then all of the focus can be put on the S Stock and problems can be solved. The A Stock must be getting in the way especially with there age and attention they must need.
