I noticed train 121 in the sidings at PAGN this morning at about 0820, and 753 in different ones when I went past at 1400 Loads of S Stocks in PGN sidings today due to the signal failure at East Putney at around 10:30! Not sure when the service had recovered. I do believe there was a signal failure at East Putney last week too?

There's been 'frequent' signal failures at East Putney recently

Even thought the assets on the Wimbledon branch are owned by LU they are actually maintained and looked after by Network Rail after WG13 at Putney Bridge.

With the last S8s being shown as In Darby and the list always a month behind am I right in thinking that we will be saying goodbye to the 3 S7+1 shortly?

Do S Stock Olympia trains actually go to Olympia, or do they terminate at Earl's Court?

Usually in service to Olympia. So, once the S Stock is fully replaced, there'll be no more Olympia services on weekdays? There are booked regular trains to and from Lillie Bridge depot that start or finish via Olympia. Other than that, the only regular service, as Crusty has said, is during major events. Sometimes, however, late running services to Richmond or Ealing are reversed at Olympia in order to get them back on time.

Olympia trains run during the week when major events take place. Indeed will be running 16-22 December due to an exhibition. Then will operate from 1945 on 23 December due to Network Rail engineering work on the West London Line, services will continue on 24 December.

I like the D Stock but I utterly disliked the C Stock when I used to ride between King's X and Great Portland Street. I noticed that on the last few days of the C Stock, the doors struggled to close and there was this deafening sound which hurt my ears when the doors eventually closed.

I never understand why so many people seem to hate C stock. Sure not the best train ever built, but good crowd shifters, and very satisfying to drive. Their biggest weakness was only being 6-cars long -- although of course the DM-T design was intended for ease of formation into 8-car trains. By contrast, the S stock has some good design features, but in my view is ruined by a horrible interior. (Also I find the front end looks incredibly displeasing, but this has no effect on the passenger).

Perhaps (for me personally) it comes from just seeing them at the end of their life. They were run-down, cold, skeletal, often graffitied on the inside, seats too close together to be comfortable and just not nice to be in! That's my reasoning...

I found the C Stock quite acceptable.
The seating was more comfortable than D stock, and, I think, more comfortable than S-Stock. The worst thing about them from my POV is that they were a bit rattly.

I didn't like the C Stock because of two reasons:
1). The voice sent shivers down my spine every time I heard it. 2). Too rattly.
Of course, now with the S Stock, I like the H&C line now but wish that it was a bit more frequent, especially from Stepney Green.

In the new timetable, are there any working being operated by S stock, apart from the Wimbledon to Edgware Road service?

None as yet 121 used to be S as it was Acton Crewed both AM and PM plus train only went as far Eastbound as barking.

In the new timetable, are there any working being operated by S stock, apart from the Wimbledon to Edgware Road service? There will be, but we don't know precisely when yet (other than the two daily H&C Upminster's referred to elsewhere from February). We can now run S stock to Upminster, but only empty to & from Barking at the moment. S stock are still not allowed to Richmond unless crewed by test trains (and thus out of service). Once Richmond and Upminster are signed off for passenger service we'll be cooking on gas, but what the hold ups are exactly is something I'm not high enough in the food chain to know about Another point to note: Train 753, the ‘S’ stock training train, has been withdrawn. What that actually means is the training trips shown in the working timetable have been withdrawn. 753 is very much still alive at the moment as its being used for Upminster's S stock refresher trips this week, following different timing paths from that previously used of course! There is a second training train that's never made a WTT - 754 - that still exists too.

There is a problem with the track around the Richmond area S stocks seem to be more sensitive.
I think the issues from Upney to Upminster is a few signals need minor adjustment to aid there sighting.

Whilst I appreciate you're only repeating what you've been told about signal sighting, I find it a little bizarre that thats difference between running in or out of service.

I know, technically there is no reason why they can not be run in passenger to Upminster. I wonder how fast they have got one between Elm Park and Dagenham East its a nice long stretch

I wonder how fast they have got one between Elm Park and Dagenham East its a nice long stretch Maximum obtainable with auto weak-field switched in is 47mph. (62mph on certain sections of the MET), which are both above the maximum permitted line speed.

I wonder how fast they have got one between Elm Park and Dagenham East its a nice long stretch For Upminster, just the final assurance paperwork and sign off needed really. Due for January. For Richmond branch a gauging issue - needs a bit of work by Network Rail. Aim is to have S Stocks running in service throughout the line by first week in Feb. Removal of D Stock and swap out with S Stock starts on 19th Jan.

How's the driver training going (what % is done) Earls Court, Acton and Barking are all done. All Instructor Operator's and upgrade pool drivers also done. Upminster training started at the end of October and 48 are done so far. We have now entered a break in training for Christmas & new year but expect to have training complete for the final 100 or so by mid march 2015. I have seen s stock test trains at upminster at 7:55 in the morning for the past two days. Is this a sign that the withdrawal is due Nope - you are seeing one of the training trains, 753. It's being brought to Upminster from Lillie Bridge each morning this week and we're then using it to refresh Upminster based drivers that have been trained since October - the aim is to give all S stock trained drivers a driving trip roughly every 28 days to assist in maintaining driving experience whilst we await introduction proper.
