There are no specific 'Piccadilly line' platforms at Acton Town, I have seen Picc and District trains use every platform! So for maximum flexibility all platforms will be fitted with stop boards. Only equipment I could think of would be the CSDE which makes sure drivers only release the correct doors on the correct side of the train...

There are also the little grey boxes, opposite the platform, which is used for platform to train CCTV. There is also the platform mounted door equipment, which is like CSDE, but I think it also tells the train where it is berthed, so it gets used for SDO as well

I posted a picture earlier of the grey track mounted position detectors, which tell the S Stock exactly where it is within the platform. All tracks between Acton and Hsmmersmith are being readied for S7s. First, there was a S7 sitting in Ealing common which is not visible anymore. Anyone have any ideas where it has gone? This has returned to Hammersmith and was used for overnight infrastructure testing to Ealing and Richmond.

Now you say it, I do remember seeing a picture of a district in both platform 1 and 2 and considering the trains per hour will only go up, it makes a lot of sense to have every platform ready.

I'm sure the White light is a PEA activation on the S stock. Correct.

Just come across this advert on YouTube Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. The 'C' Stock even seems smart in its original livery. Loved the final clip of the 4 car A Stock. Interestingly the scene at Farringdon on the widened lines showed the 4th rail in place as a Cl 319 arrives. I seem to recall mention of this somewhere recently but why was the 4th rail in situ here after A/C electrification?

With apolgoies I clicked on the wrong quote link. Should have been the one on you tube. No doubt way off the thread now. Should not do this when feeling well knackered!!! Sorry chaps.

The link seems to go to Portillo's advertisng video for the S stock. Not an A stock or 319 in sight.

There was a link to a power supply youtube clip. It was a brilliant 15 minute view but don't ask me where I found it! I gave up last night having seemingly messed it all up.

I know the one you mean, it was on RMweb a couple of weeks ago. If I can find it I'll post it.

I'm guessing that the video you saw was this one "Traction current: Alive or Dead?"

No safety glasses, hard hat, hi-vi, gloves, steel toe cap boots - and no target on train.

I was on an S8 yesterday and on one set of doors the white lights were still on when the train left the station but the next time the set of doors closed the lights went off, was it a fault with the lights (more likely) or did the door not close correctly, I do know that if the doors aren't closed the train can't move.

It is quite possible to have a few 'defects' in the software of S Stock which do not affect the operation of the train. Certain faults on current Stock would require their removal from service although on S Stock these are able to stay in service. i.e: outside door indicator light on. On S Stock as long as the blue 'doors closed' indication is lit in the cab all other indications are regarded as spurious and effectively ignored but reported.

According to the S8 delivery list all 58 S8 now have to go back to derby, is that right?

Yep, was 37 but now all of them AFAIK. Up to Train 39 returned at the moment. That is the 39th train to be returned, not "Train 39" as in build/delivery.

It's supposed to be a 3-week turn round but public holidays tend to get in the way.

If my maths is right it will take at least another 54 weeks, was it ever confirmed what's wrong with them?

What detrimental effect is this recall having on the timetable? Provided punters aren't inconvenienced and the mods are being done under warranty and at no cost to LUL it's the right thing to do isn't it?

Provided punters aren't inconvenienced... I think some might argue that Amersham to Aldgate on an S7+1 with its all longitudinal seating is inconvenient. Not as inconvenient as no train at all mind, but then you can't please everyone.

I said at least meaning that's the min amount off time for the work to be done knowing full well that it will take much longer.
