I'm fairly certain I got on train 261 at Edgware Road yesterday at 08:59 heading eastbound and it was an S7, 21333 I think 261 was indeed formed of 21333/34 during the morning peak.

Visited Derby Litchurch Lane this morning viewing from all the usual perimeter vantage points. A number of S7's just carried papers in the windows indicating their eventual number but 21397/398 was fully externally numbered. Also viewed an S6 in the form of 21381/22381/24381/24382/22382/21382 (It's deicing car is already in service with 21319/320)
Hope that may be of interest, Bob Parsons.

Are there enough S7s in London for the H&C to go all S7?

Are there enough S7s in London for the H&C to go all S7? It is just possible, as 17 S7s are available in London with the additional 3 S7+1 already on the MET = 20 S7. However, until the power upgrade works are complete the number of trains in service are currently limited.

How long will the power upgrade works take to complete?

Over this last weekend (15/16 june) the District was closed on the Wimbledon branch, in order to prepare for the new S Stock. I have seen the little Track to Train CCTV Transmitters have gone in on the platforms. I have also noted that the >>>>>S7<<<<< signs have gone in at all stations as far south as Wimbledon Park, but that had been done before the closure. There are no S7 signs at Wimbledon yet, so are these still to be installed, or will the S7s be using the current Stop Diamonds. I know that there are S7 specific diamonds in the Parsons Green sidings, so this has really caught my interest.

One question, How is assisted dispatch going to work when the CCTV fails, at a station when the cab is passed the end of the platform?

All S7s will use the new style chevrons. Also still to do are the new cameras for S7s, brackets now appearing at East Putney, Southfields, Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon. The power upgrade work progressed over the weekend, with new current rail bonds being added.
Don't expect to see S7 passenger workings beyond Parsons Green before Jan/Feb.

Ah, thanks for the reply. Don't expect to see S7 passenger workings beyond Parsons Green before Jan/Feb. Does that mean we can expect some sort of "gimmick" service between Edgware Road and Parsons Green before that?

Isn't the plan to completely replace the H&C and Circle line stock before starting on the District Line? Is it really expected that that will be done as soon as the start of next year - which is only about seven months away? Or is there now going to be a surge of new S7 introductions?

Up to 32 trains in service by end of January.

Sounds very promising.
Of course, once all the S7's have been delivered I don't doubt I'll be lamenting the passing of the C & D stock.
Such is life.

If all the H&C stock is to go before the District stock, would that mean that the last C stock to run in passenger service would be a Wimbleware. I can't help but wonder how full it will be of people mourning the passing of the stock?

Two trains C-Stock start and end at Hammersmith

Am I right in thinking that if the S7+1 are still running on the Met when the time comes for the S7s the extra carriages have been borrowed from to be delivered as S7s they will be skipped until the mods on the S8s are done? (I hope I've made sense)

Up to Train 98 has arrived at Old Dalby.
The trains the extra car in the S7+1s come from are Train 99, 100 and 101. Certainly Train 99 has been seen at Derby as an S6 for three weeks or so and hasn't moved. It hasn't been numbered per se, but has paper numbers in the windows to identify it. Presumably 100 and 101 are somewhere in Derby as S6s- Derby is awash with S Stock at the moment, with the highest being seen 'over the fence' Train 112.
Whether 99, 100 and 101 will come down to Old Dalby as S6s, or remain at Derby we will have to see. As only a handful of S8s have been returned from Derby from mods, there are still plenty of the 37 left to be dealt with. So will the S6s remain at Derby (stored until their 7th cars are released) or will they be made up to S7s by adding another car from much later on in the build? We wait with baited breath.

Up to train 112? If production continues at that rate, they will probably have finished building the S7 fleet long before the final scheduled delivery. I guess it also means that when they start to run on the circle, there will be a massive influx of new S7s, as well as a massive amount of C stock scrapping.

Yes - undoubtedly other higher numbers are in various stages of production. If production continues at that rate, they will probably have finished building the S7 fleet long before the final scheduled delivery. Could well be (1). I guess it also means that when they start to run on the circle, there will be a massive influx of new S7s, as well as a massive amount of C stock scrapping. Could well be (2).

I guess it also means that when they start to run on the circle, there will be a massive influx of new S7s, as well as a massive amount of C stock scrapping. Not necessarily. My last London trip I made eight H&C journeys and only had an S7 for one. There were often three stabled at Hammersmith, they just weren't being used for passenger service. However, now that I have had a couple of S7 rides I'm savouring the last days (weeks? months?) of H&C C Stock.

The H&C/Circle/District C Stock fleet comprised 46 trains. Five have now 'gone', making 41 trains. 18 (or maybe 19) S Stock trains have been commissioned for passenger service, with 9 currently being scheduled for service Mon-Sat. Even if we take 41 C Stock and 9 S7 Stock, this still equates to 50 trains - 4 'over the top'. In addition there are another 9 or 10 S7s around for training, maintenance, etc. So, sometime soon, they have just got to have a clear out ........ ??

I am not aware of the capacity of Old Dalby but according to my records there are now EIGHTEEN s7s at Old Dalby.
From previous note on here I understand that no more than the current nine S7s on the Hammersmith & City can be run until the power upgrade is complete.
Anyone know when that might be please?
Also will the Circle be the next for S7s, please?
TIA

The next commissioning stage will be the extended circle (ie, the south side of the circle, as well as the Gloucester Road to Edgware Road Branch and the outer platforms at Aldgate), which should be commissioned towards the end of the summer (August/September) and once this has been commissioned, then more trains can be put out, as many as they can up to a limit of 32 trains, which is about double the number that are currently in London operating as S7s.

Will 32 trains be enough to see both H&C and Circle lines go all S7 or not, how many trains are used on each line?
