There is a bit of difference between units being built and introduced, there has been a delivery this week. Nothing went back up north though.

IIRC, there was one S7 Delivery this week, and no S8's went back up to Derby for modifications as (usually?) happens

^^Are you talking about a S7 or 8? Yeah an S7, seemed to have misplaced the unit numbers. Not sure if there will be another S7 coming down before Easter.

i have noticed that s8 stock trains between aldgate and finchely road seem to accelerate quite quickly at each stop, however, in the north west part of the metropolitan line they accelerate almost much slower! any reason for this? cant acceleration be upgraded now everywhere with no a stock about?

Probably because the A stock used to do this too. They were meant to have the weak field flag down between Finchley Road and Aldgate and the weak field flag up when north west of Finchley Road. Having the weak field flag down means acceleration is better but top speed is limited. With the weak field flag up acceleration is not as good but top speed is increased. The S stock performance is programmed to do this.

Would the Performance still be increased with those pesky C-Stocks in the way in the city? Anything as slow and poorly accelerating as a C when put in front of a S would cause a huge bunching in the service (I hope prjb doesn't see this!)

Yeah, although many drivers used to forget to put the flag down! You really noticed it on the East London Line where the A stock used to zip around. Some of the gradients helped too....

I'm NOT asking for dates of deliveries.
Will deliveries continue at the same rate as they have done over the last month?

It would seem that someone has listened to your concern as with the demise of A Stock, the acceleration rate of S8 Stock between Uxbridge-Hillingdon, Finchley Road-Aldgate below 35km/h, is shortly to be enhanced to better match the performance of C/S7 Stock.

I believe new deliveries of S Stock, presumably S7's, will be stabled around the various Depots, prior to introduction, including Northfields Depot on the Piccadilly Line. Is this due to the ongoing works at Ealing Common Depot east, making available space in the Depot at a premium?

I was on an S8 from Baker Street to Hillingdon today and noticed that the ride was not at all comfortable with the train bouncing around very reminiscent of the dying days of the 50 year old A stock. I presume that this is partly due to the increased speed but some of this line is on new track yet there were no really smooth sections at all. After all the comments about S stock quality am I about to admit the impossible? Was Metman right??

I'm not very impressed by the quality of the tracklaying on LU. I compare it with riding on Japanese trains (urban as well as shinkansen bullet trains), where you actually have to look out of the window to get any sense of movement, the track is so well laid.

I see that the S7 stopping boards have now made their way as far south as Fulham Broadway, but no further. Are these being installed during weekday nights or weekend nights?

S7s seem to be more apparent on the H&C over the last few days.
Train this morning peak at Liverpool Street was in service without adverts

Would I be correct it's S7s currently parked in Wembley Park sidings? Yes, five of them when I passed at 8am this morning. Would be interesting to know what the arrangements are for changing them over with S7s at Hammersmith Depot in advance of the 19th May. Not sure what arrangements will apply from the 19th May for storing S7s when Wembley Park Sidings becomes a scheduled stabling location for S7s.

Trains will run as H&C passenger trains from Barking to Baker Street pfm2, then run empty with MET drivers to Harrow siding and then to Wembley Park sidings.

I had wondered whether this would be the arrangement but thought it might present some problems if the Met driver wasn't there to take over from the H&C driver due to service disruption on the Met. Also, there is the need to take the train out of passenger service in Baker Street Pfm 2 which is not a normal arrangement these days. I guess in my mind to mitigate the risk of delays, I perhaps thought S7 trains would come out of passenger service in Pfms 3 and 4 at Moorgate having worked passenger from Hammersmith and then be worked empty to Wembley Park Sidings from there by the Met driver.

I presume that the trains stabling there will be late evening services. if that is the case, then running from Barking to Baker Street would mean a reduction in late evening trains to Hammersmith. Maybe the Wembley Park stablers could be ex Circles too? How many trains will be scheduled to stable at WPS?

What did the C stock that stabled at Neasden do? I know some called at Bakerloo/Jubilee stations in the early morning/evening services.
I see that stations beyond Wembley Park have >>>>S/S<<<< stopping marks unlike the usual >>>>S8<<<< ones. Perhaps trains will run to Harrow and reverse ety to Neasden?

Services are indeed thinned out to Hammersmith in the 23:xx hour with no replacement, the 10min service from Barking is maintained including a later departure at 00:05 to Baker Street/Harrow. Starters/stablers at Wembley will currently only be H&C trains, 4 Mon-Sat, 3 Sun.

Metman is usually spot on The tiny wheels are undesirable. One wonders whether their replacement can feature mainline sized wheelsets, perhaps with wheel boxes inside the cars as in tube stocks and articulation to maintain the door layout, in order to improve ride quality.

The timetable change "schedules" nine S7s on the Hammersmith & City Line (eight on Sundays). Circle Line to follow at a later date.
