What is the fate of 21001? Will it get scrapped like the first 09ts?

28 June was the "official" date. Whether this was a sign-off date or whether it did run that day, I don't know.

21035/036 was noted in passenger service as an S8 on the Met earlier this morning - either T470 or T471.
That's all 3 S8-1s reformed to 8-Cars and commissioned for passenger service.
Just units 001, 037 and 099 to go.

Thank you for the confirmation re 037 Bentley.
With all production S8s now commissioned for service on the Met, I think we can count ourselves quite fortunate to still have a few A Stock trains available for service. I guess if it wasn't for the Olympics, A Stock operation would have come to an end either this or next week.

21002-21001 is still at Derby as far as I know.
I saw 21100-21099 passing Harrow-on-the-Hill southbound platform 6 at about 13.45-ish today empty on a test run, so we can assume passenger service for it iminent?
Once that is in service that should give 57 out of 58 commissioned S8s.

That isn't strictly true; Croxley Rail Link required the funding for an extra train, ie, the 59th...

Ah, but the 59th (S8) train hasn't been authorised yet And it won't be Train 59 - the first S7 is - we await with interest to see if it is authorised and what train it might be - 192 perhaps.

Three out of the four S7s have now been in service at various times, leaving 304-303 to do so - it is at Hammersmith. Maybe in service soon.

Currently S8s spend more time telling us where they are NOT going rather than where they are:-
'All stations' -- 'Metropolitan Line' -- 'Watford' repeating. For instance.
Would it not be possible with all the whizzy new software for the sequence to be
'All stations' -- 'Watford' -- 'Metropolitan Line' -- 'Watford'
You then have to wait a maximum of one change to see the destination rather than the possible two if 'All stations' is the first thing you see.

Would it not be possible with all the whizzy new software for the sequence to be 'All stations' -- 'Watford' -- 'Metropolitan Line' -- 'Watford' But then passengers headed to places like Preston Road would have a legitimate complaint about having to sit through "Watford" twice when what matters to them is the "all stations" message.

I think the screens should be split into 2 horizontally with one half showing the line and the other alternating between destination and service type, I'm sure if this will work on the current screens so they may have to be widened on the S8's. Failing this, 2 tier screens.

It's the first of 3 S7+1 which will replace the S8's which go back to Derby for modifications. S8's will be going back 3 at a time.
