Having a look back through the logs, it appears the scratched window was indeed reported by the train operator, and the relevant treatment was taken once the train got back to depot that evening. As for the driver, who knows. We only have bengley's personal opinion and view on the driver's response. Perhaps (and this is my view only based on previous communication on the forum) Mr Bengley is a regular complainer, and maybe known to the driver, which may be the reason for the less than enthusiastic response. I could have that very wrong indeed of course, but then so could Mr Bengley... Maybe we should consider this particular matter closed? Like Mr Bengley presently is? ;D

At the end of the day (no pun intended!), there is no excuse for rudeness or even sounding disinterested, no matter how long the shift. People in far less well paid jobs find it in them to be polite, so I would expect at least an interested response from the driver, and a "thank you for letting me know", even if he couldn't care less and just wanted to go home. This is one of the problems with society these days - people find excuses for rudeness, when in most cases there is no excuse. Superteacher, try to look at the bigger picture please. Ignore the pay, and imagine you have a job where you are alone for over three hours twice a day, no praise or thanks, maybe an insult or two. During this time you also need to concentrate on a task. Now can you believe it's possible to temporarily not be able to be social. I think a good expression is don't knock it until you've tried it. I am in no way condoning rude behaviour, or even mildly rude behaviour as is being discussed. I just take offence when somebody throws an insult around on a public forum without thinking about any background or giving more details and your placing more importance on reporting and getting into trouble the driver rather then reporting the vandalism to more appropriate people. As for the S stock I haven't had a ride in one yet either! Went inside one at Uxbridge while it having a break there but that's it! But it's a real pity if panels are already coming loose. Hopefully the teething problems will be sorted and lessons learnt (!) ;D

Quick note regarding the scratched windows though, it's good if the depots deal with them as you say and quickly because on the 73s most windows are scratched and it doesn't look very nice unfortunately.

So there will be one coming down this week then?
I've noticed that there's more of the b@ggers out and about over the last few days so I expected S stock deliveries to restart.

You will probably be relieved to hear that reliability hasn't improved that much, but it's now more of a balancing game between getting rid of the As (as they are coming due for maintenance that cannot be funded) and taking in the S's as we have a contract to be supplied with them.

Perhaps financial penalties for Bombardier would pay for A stock maintance costs? ;D

Yes, why didn't they think of that? And then, in one of those blurry/wobbly t.v. moments, metman woke up ;D

I'm down for a delivery on Wednesday. It sounds like an S8-1, but I don't have details yet.

I think an S8-1 is actually an S8 with a carriage missing, and not technically an S7 ;-)

Got this news from a different source Doesn't mean it will definitely go ahead though ;D The S8-1 is a met line S8 with an M2 car removed.

I think given we only got rid of a 4-car A-stock, we should have a S8-4 ;D
Better still, given the fact I've just returned from a very hectic shift which was only made hectic by an S-stock suffering what is now becoming a very common fault, leave the blooming new train where it is.

Don't suggest an S8-4 as someone will suggest reinstating the Chesham shuttle ;D ;D ;D

Any ideas if this is actually running tonight? I've not seen anything on the places I usually find it, but hints here suggest it is...

Yes. Reported, reported running round at Melton Mowbray at 1215.
Now runs as 7X09 instead of 8X09. As far as I know it still runs to the same times but can run faster.

Yes, I think we should consider the matter closed. If the train operator was having a bad day and it showed, at least they did their job and reported it. The scratched window is the least of the problems though..... I know we're not talking about this anymore, but as I had disabled my account at the time the topic was ongoing I didn't have a chance to back myself up. The driver did indeed ignore me. I don't lie or exaggerate about anything I say on here! He (or another operator) may have reported it, which I appreciate, but the least I could have expected was a 'cheers' or 'I know, thanks'. Manners cost nothing.

Good question; have they been approved to run Rayners-Acton yet under any circumstances?
