Has the power supply been upgraded in the Harrow reversing siding or was it a failed S stock I saw there yesterday?

Has the power supply been upgraded in the Harrow reversing siding or was it a failed S stock I saw there yesterday? It has indeed been upgraded, so S-stock can use it normally. What made you think the S-stock in there had failed? Was it all shut down and in total darkness?

Going slightly off topic, can I ask why the S Stock DVA announces the next station when at a station, eg: "This is Liverpool Street. The next station is Moorgate. This is an all stations Metropolitan line train to Uxbridge". The only other example of this I have seen myself is on the Class 378's on LO. Thing is, I can kind of understand why the next station announcements are done on the Met, but some of you may recall that video in which an S8 starts announcing Circle/H&C announcements as a result of a fault with the DVA. It says "This is Barking. The next station is East Ham...", and I'm just wondering why even on the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines, the next station will be announced. Also, why is it at a station, the interchanges are not announced? Presumably, this will also be the case for the S7's on the District line.

I haven't travelled on an S-stock recently to hear the announcements, however...
It makes sense to announce the current and next stops. When working correctly, it confirms to the traveller which direction the train is heading. Strangers to the system will often board a train with the "gamble" that if they arrive at station x next, then they're heading in the right direction. Hopefully by listening to the announcements they won't need to take this gamble.
The DVA on FCCs Class 317s does the same thing.

tbh i think that the setup of the stock dva on the met is very good, announcing the interchange on the way only is nice, rather than hearing it on the way and at the station, would be very annoying, especially for the met

Why does the S stock smell like a certain drug? (Named after another way of saying 'urinated'!) Does it smell like new bathroom sealant? i.e. a vinegar like smell you always seem to get in a new home's bathroom, or one that's recently been re-caulked???

None booked, but that's not to say there definately won't be one or two out there.

To copy myself from another thread:
This coming week has been heralded as the first where weekly S-stock deliveries will commence... and weekly A-stock disposals will continue.
The booked, previously used path on Monday lunchtimes will remain the regular path used until October - by which time it is hoped disposals will commence via rail.

That would explain the TfL home page plugging the S.

Rode some A stock yesterday. Feels so ancient. Surprised they have survived so long!

When's the next S7 due down then? Very soon, but it will be an S8 minus an M2 car and just for testing.
