they (booths) do allow access and the proceeds are given to charity.plenty of photographs taken in that place, they could have been taken by anyone so its no good pointing the finger at the poster and none knows the circumstances. www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/sets/72157613018688055/detail/?page=3 terribly sad scenes and a real shame but sadly also inevitable at some point.even if some are preserved they wont be accessible.the empty shuttle bay at chalfont&latimer will look as a forlorn reminder. attention should be given to who is vandalising trains at the depot or wherever and allowing them to get into that state. no whinging about that or looks to be anything done. for front line services its appalling.

I feel physically sick! 5002 was one of my favourate units as was 5159 which it was withdrawn with, and 5002 was the unit I was going to model in brand new silver with black roof!

In the second picture, what has happened to the side of the A Stock?

I would agree with the above - it looks like it has quite literally caught on something which in turn has then ripped part of the cab open. A very sad sight to see though. Especially when you compare it to the picture above taken literally a few weeks ago!

It seems that 5124, the first A62, will be one of the next two units to go. I finally managed to film it last month, arriving at Amersham as train 412:

They were taken at dusk with permission from someone who was working there. I won't disclose his name because I understand he wasn't really meant to let me in.

It is very strange seeing such a familiar thing dissapear off into familiar roads and traffic!

I remember from my early youth, that there was a unit 1963 plates, which by natural assumption was 5231... But my memory is sketchy as I was only about 5 then, so don't take this as gospel.

5231 is still about perhaps someone can confirm?
Many of the A62s were built in early 1963.

Thats a thought, with 5000 gone there can't be many others with 1960 tread plates?

I think only 5002 had the 1960 tread plates. Very few units had them. The one to check of course is 5034 which was once 5008.
