Whatever comes of that discussion, I have recently been informed that the next "last day of operation" will be tomorrow, Christmas Eve. From Boxing Day (industrial action permitting) the full timetable will be re-introduced...

Will 'Shuttle Diplomacy' mean that, as has been suggested, the shuttle will indeed return?

Working Timetable 329, complete with through Chesham trains, will be the timetable being used.
I am not sure how public they will make this in terms of advertising the date.
The strike action could very well mean the shuttle is run for Boxing Day as well - simply to provide a more reliable service.

I can imagine that the shuttle could run during industrial action to provide political statistics. If you have a driver to run it, then you can lock a train on the branch and send it up and down all day as long as it doesn't break down (and the chance of this should be identical to it breaking down on any other given day) and neither Chesham nor Chalfont have to close for any reason, then you've got a fairly guaranteed on-time service. The timings involved also mean that in terms of the number of trains you can run through the day, you get about 5 shuttle trips per Chehsam-Baker Street run. Far be it for me to suggest TfL/LU management would be that cynical...

It's common sense really isn't it. As I and others have said, even the old Circle Line service comes out to play on the odd occasion. We have to remember what is best for the customers...

Does anyone know if it is through Cheshams today, or is it still in "shuttle" mode?

If anyone didn't realise, todays Met was planned to be a revised service due to engineering works and from memory the Chesham service was neither shuttle, nor thro' to Baker! Think it was 2 tph HOH pfm 4 (having shunted ex 5 via sdg) to Chesham via local lines

In my mind it was an altered WTT329 rather than an altered WTT328 if you see what I mean (glass half full rather than half empty ;D )
