A post-trip meetup sounds good. At West Hampstead we are not far from either the Met Bar at Baker Street or the Lloyds Number 1 at Finchley Road we went to on the occasion the Met Bar was closed (for a gas leak or something I think).

I'll have to give the meet a miss as I could only book on the second trip  . Would there be enough demand for a re-run? Seriously, I hope you all enjoy it. Assuming that there is no public access there, could someone get a picture at Charing Cross for me please? Thanks. |

Indeed, Trip 1 was sold out so I'll be on Trip 2. However, there's an advantage to Trip 2 - It will probably be the last ever '38 stock tour on the Jubbly, at least until ATP is fitted to the 38TS, which doesn't seem likely.

Surprised they didn't "sell" the run from Stratford (14.28ish) back to Wembley, Harrow or Rayners Lane.

Just out of curiosity - how are they getting the train from the depot onto the Jubilee Line?
Been looking at the maps and can't see an obvious link onto the Jubilee from the Picadilly/District.
(typically, 10 seconds after I type that I spy the probable answer!)
I guess up to Rayners Lane, then down to Wembley Park and onto the Jubilee there?

When the 1938 stock ran to Charing Cross Jubilee line on 16th September 2007, train 1 (Ealing Common - Rayners Lane (Rev) - Charing Cross) crossed Met to Jubilee going south here and train 3 (Reverse of train 1) crossed Jubilee to Met before running to Rayners Lane. |

Cant really remember what the arrangements are at Neasden. Of course you can access the depot from the NB Jub, and SB Met and Jub.. however not the NB Met as I remember it.
There might be a crossover to get from the NB/SB Jub, to the SB met.. I can't remember

The only access to Neasden depot from the "northbound" at Neasden is from the Northbound Jubilee Line platform using shunt signal JM37 and No.22, 21 and 20 points. There is no "direct" access from the Northbound Metropolitan Line now, and hasn't been for some years. There is, however, a trailing crossover north of Neasden (No.27) on the northbound Metropolitan Line which leads to the adjacent northbound Jubilee Line which, using signal MM8 and No.28 trailing crossover as well(between the northbound and southbound Jubilee) will take a train into the southbound Jubilee Line platform at Neasden, which could (in theory) be used to put a northbound Met train to Neasden depot. I am sure this would be one of those (very) "last resort" moves!

Having re read through this thread I have to admit I was wrong there is no connection between the Norhbound Met and Neasden depot at Neasden, nor has there beenn so for a very long time. I was thinking about Neasden depot and Wembley.

Why was the connection removed? Surely it would make sense for both lines to have access from both directions?

This arrived in my inbox a few minutes ago, I thought it may be of interest: Good morning, I am writing to let you know of a forthcoming event on London Underground's Jubilee line using the London Transport Museum's 1938 tube stock 4-car unit. This is part of the Jubilee line's 30th/10th anniversary celebrations, and likely to be the last opportunity to ride on 38 stock on the Jubilee line before their new signalling is commissioned. We are planning to run the train on Wednesday 5th August - yes, midweek - from Stratford. There are two opportunities to participate in this event: Trip a) Stratford - West Hampstead - Charing Cross - West Hampstead: costs £25 per person Trip b) West Hampstead - Stratford: costs £10 per person The train arrives at Stratford, platform 14 at 1100 and leaves at 1122 (plenty of time for photo opportunities), there's also 20 minutes scheduled at Charing Cross disused Jubilee line platforms for more photo opportunities. I think this is the first passenger run of 38TS to the platforms at Charing Cross, although I'm ready to be corrected by the experts …….. The train arrives at the end of trip a) at West Hampstead at 1318. We then leave for trip b) from West Hampstead at 1348 and arrive back at Stratford at 1428. Tickets for both trips are being sold from next week by the London Transport Museum via their website www.ltmuseum.co.uk of their ticket line 020 7565 7298. If running the heritage train midweek proves successful - both in relation to the normal train service and in customer numbers - then we could look to organise a "very last trip" on the Northern line next year……….watch this space! It's a shame they have probably scrapped the combined Bakerloo/Jubilee trip districtdave.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=jubilee&action=display&thread=10412&page=1; but I suppose that pathing issues by transferring between lines, and the loss of the Piccadilly Circus crossover (although of course, we still don't know what the extended possession is for at the end of the month), and of course flippin football, it was looking unlikely. <loads shotgun and destroys ball> Does anyone know if that run will now actually happen? |

'38 stock is banned from Picc Circus crossover after the Tunnel Cleaning Train came off there a few years ago. We do know what the extended possession is for (or at least some of us do), although it hasn't yet been made public. Have you been there recently? It looks a little different. |

This is just to let everybody know, that the toilets on the Stratford Jubilee line concourse were shut yesterday, and I would guess will probably be shut tomorrow, because they've been vandalised. Nearest alternative toilets are: Stratford bus station, outside Canary Wharf station or of course Liverpool Street (charge for these is now 30p.)

I am likewise, planning a 10:45 arrival, but that depends on what sort of day the toilet barriers at Liverpool Street are having (I swear they have a mind of their own about whether they are going to work properly or not!), and whether I get across the concourse with all limbs intact (something else you take your life in your hands doing at Liverpool Street NR station at times!) Going slightly off topic, are there any trains that run through to Aldgate at about half past one in the afternoon, which should be about the time I get back to Finchley Road barring any major disasters, or are they all Baker Street terminators? |
