The answer is 'Inductive Charging' No electrical connections required between charging station and vehicle. A rechargable electric toothbrush uses this principle. TFL is trialling the technology. Hybrid bus charging

Perhaps it was a missed opportunity to replace the elderly trains on the Bakerloo - the 27 trains on order could have been supplemented with just nine extra trains, in order to make up the 36 needed to run the (present) Bakerloo Timetable. The trains could have been initially placed on the Bakerloo, and then subsequently cascaded onto the Northern Line once the final fleet for the Bakerloo gets built with the main Central Line order. Just thinking that's all..... Would the '96 stock fit on the Bakerloo? Considering the tight curves on the Bakerloo I think the extra length of a '96 car would foul the gauge line.

The collector shoes sliding along the traction rails make quite a lot of noise and even more noise when the shoes hit the ends of the ramps.

The IMR is at the east end of the westbound at ground level off Alexandra Road Correct I'm sure you have been there a few times in your career Bruce Once before it was commissioned.

Yes the Jubilee line may be faster but it has't got many 20 mph curves like the Bakerloo line has and also the station spacing is closer in the tube section of the Bakerloo line.

There is a third short tunnel which runs parallel with the southbound platform tunnel and southbound siding. It is full of pumping equipment and this is probably why the disused sidings were backfilled and sealed to alleviate the need for more pumping equipment. Not only is E&C hot it is also wet which makes a very uncomfortable environment to work in.

There must be serious gauging problems on the Bakerloo preventing it from getting longer carriages, else it might have ended up with TfLs most reliable fleet, the 73ts, after the pic gets its new trains. As it is though, any serious expenditure on the 72ts is only justifiable if they are made to work for another couple of decades. There are many places on the Bakerloo Line where serious gauging problems occur. In fact there are not many decent straights south of Queens Park. There is a severe curve on both roads south of Paddington and then there is Baker Street northbound platform and then the curves between Piccadilly Circus and Charing Cross and both platforms at Waterloo.

It's not the voltage that kills, it is the current. 10 milliamps through the heart is suffient to kill. Testing a battery by applying the terminals to your tongue is highly dangerous. All that is needed is for a cut on the tongue and you are history. A 1.5 volt battery can kill you.
When I was an A.E.T. many a time I would step on to the positive rail while attending to a breakage in the tunnel telephone wires. When on the track I always wore my safety boots which had a thick rubber sole.
