Between Poplar and Blackwall (that happens to be my ex's block of flats in the photo, not that it's relevant. I don't imagine Chris M put that in as a link ) Could the inset be Waterhouse Square?

The inset could well be by Freddie Waterhouse. I was thinking it was the hospital near Russell Square that I can't think of the name of.
PS. Not Russell Square; Gower Street.
