I've discovered another issue regarding Cerulean Blue. In the photos below the colour in the first train looks lighter than the colour in the second image. The first image even has a slight bluish tint. Maybe its just photography... but from my experience the Citadel paint is even darker than the colour in the photo I took at the LT Museum. Looking at the seat moquette, the photos are about 50 years apart, so photography certainly is different.

Perhaps the Wedgelock couplers have been 'rationalised' out? Still fully operational and upgraded on the previously single-ended cabs, from the emergency only ones originally fitted

reports today that the 80th engineering train has entered the South Harrow compound and delivered track panels with concrete sleepers to site and installation has started.
The land has already been flattened and laid with ballast.
12 points & crossings panels, with composite sleepers are being constructed at Lillie Bridge, for dismantling and taking to Ruislip for delivery to site later.

How long has the connection at Finsbury Park been shown with no separation? Thought the design intent was that touching lines were for lines that shared track. From the December 2020 edition.

Am I correct in believing that one side effect of the extension is the ending of the Bushey Heath - Edgware - Mill Hill East - Finchley Central shuttle service and the return to through trains 'all day'? If so I bet the passengers who no longer need to change trains at Finchley Central must be delighted that the new extension has opened. districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/32473/new-wtt58-19-september-2021

That's what the old 'London Connections' map was for - is it even produced these days? Now called London's Railways. Poster version at stations and on line. has been called "London's Rail & Tube services" map for a couple of years, after being 'London Connections'. London's Rail & Tube services

There wasn't actually a separate thread about this edition, it was tucked away in: Will the Thameslink routes in London be shown on the LU map?pocket map December 2020, differences May 2020-December 2020: - new cover design: "helter skelter". Phyllida Barlow 2020. - addition of Thameslink lines and (over-40!) stations - Langley; now step-free to platform - Heathrow Terminal 4; station closed - King's Cross St. Pancras International; gains ' &' between. An update occurred in June 2021, which necessitated a few changes: pocket map December 2020 (June 2021 update) differences December 2020-December 2020 (June 2021 update): - same cover design and December 2020 date - Kennington; now in zones 1/2 - Waterloo & City; services resumed - South Kensington; dagger added - Amersham; West Ealing; now step-free to platform

Just to say the December 2020 map was reissued in June 2021 with the same cover date, Kennington was Zone 1/2 with the date on the map and in the back text as being correct to June 2021. haven't compared other Changes, but these June 2021 update maps are now hard to find with the new September 2021 maps now out. Thanks for that This had passed me by but having looked at some recent acquisitions I can confirm. I’ll update the December 2020 map thread later.

I can confirm from observations this morning (and I was down there for a good while) that there were no Edgware branch destinations. It was all High Barnet with the odd MHE. It was mentioned up thread that there are through Edgware branch trains at certain times: M-F 05.54¾, 06.06½, 06.17¼, 16.34½GG, 17.04, 17.13¾, 17.23¾, 17.33¾, 17.43¾, 17.53¾, 18.03¾GG, 18.13¾, 18.23¾GG, 18.33¾, 18.43¾, 18.53¾, 19.03¾GG, 19.14½, 19.32¼, 19.43, 19.56, 20.02, 20.14, 20.26, 20.38, 20.50, 21.02, 21.14, 21.26, 21.38, 21.50, 22.02, 22.14, 22.26, 22 38¼, 23.14, 23.26, 23.49¼, 00.28.

Are trains running empty to Battersea today under the new timetable? yes. first southbound train from Charing Cross branch T064 51545+51544 successfully negotiated the branch at 07.28 from Kennington pfm.2 it appears that shuttle train T201 didn't operate this morning, so the first northbound train was T064 again

Given the proximity of the two depots, I imagine it's also a lot easier for Morden to provide first northbound and last southbound trains than it is to have to run them from Golders and round the loop. Indeed, the first 4 trains via Charing X start at Morden, the fifth from Battersea Power Station

The press release linked to above says "TfL will confirm the time of the first train to serve Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station on Monday 20 September in due course". Which suggests an official opening ceremony at an hour more amenable to the bigwigs. (After all, how would they get there for 0528?) Railway press offices have learned the lesson of the APT's (Advanced Passenger Train) inaugural run in 1981, which required journalists to be at Glasgow Central on a cold December morning an hour and a half before dawn. This was not calculated to endear the project to the reporters. (It's also possible that the motion sickness reported by several of the hacks was exacerbated by the lack of sleep, hurried (or no) breakfast after too much Scotch "hospitality" the night before, and the inability to see the horizon until well into the journey). Announcement today: New Tube map unveiled featuring new Northern line stations to open next week as Tube extends to Battersea Power Station

Simple answer, health & safety of the track workers - usually traction current related issues.
(remember 1981/2 when Hanger Lane bridge D29 was replaced, District ran a service to/from Ealing Common station, with the work going on a few hundred yards ahead. Bridge replacement work Ravenscourt Park, with single-line working trains running past the worksite)

I was wondering how Battersea was achievable without getting more trains. Trains previously sat in the Kennington loop for 5¼min, they now use this time productively by running onto Battersea Power Station, taking 4½min to get there.
