They had a 3 road cleaning shed at Ruislip that was never used, all exterior cleaning was done at Hainault.

Was this envisaged when the depot was built? How was there so much undercover space? Possibly as they put in a connection to the main line. When the 62TS was on the Central Ruislip didn’t do any planned lifting maintenance only casualty lifts. All programme lifts were done at Hainault. On the WTT at the time a depot almost as big as Neasden only put 14 trains into service, most of the room was taken up by new/scrap stock.

Question. Possibly daft. Maybe I have misunderstood something. But here goes. When was the link at Ruislip opened between Central and Met ? I thought it was c.1970 ? Not there when A60 stock was delivered ? If not, was Ruislip really the main line destination for delivery trains from Cravens, would they not, if the link were not there, simply have gone direct to Neasden ? I can see some sense in tube gauge stock e.g. from MetCam going to Ruislip, but why would surface gauge stock be delivered there when there was, at the time, no LT surface gauge escape route ? Did A60 come back out of Ruislip on to BR main line then back to LT somewhere ? Or have I got something fundamentally wrong here ? Ruislip was the depot for new stock commissioning at the time, stock came from the builders just bodies and bogies, motors, compressors ,MAs & shogear was fitted at Ruislip.

The GC was still in existence then, could probably go direct to Ruislip from Sheffield.

Think it’s being exacerbated by shortage of T/Ops.

Weren’t the hydrovane compressors as originally fitted to 73TS a complete disaster and had to be replaced in short order?

If the derailed loco is shorting on the current rail it won’t be possible to recharge that section.

It’s so long since I used the DLR think the services were Stratford-Lewisham & Tower Gateway/Bank-Beckton.

Think when they were modified to run with 60TS they were fitted with 62TS compressors.

Sure I read in Tube Trains Under London that 38TS was built with the same compressors as trolley buses, they were replaced as they were notoriously unreliable.

Weren’t the original compressors on 38TS the same as those used on trolley buses?

I’m sure in the 70s when Standstead was going to be developed there was talk of double tracking and extending the Ongar branch.

The first plans for the Jubilee upgrade envisioned doubling stabling roads at Stanmore to 20,putting in extra stabling roads at SMD so that there would be very few if any 96 TS at Neasden.

I’m sure they parked a 67TS in the sdgs once due to disruption on the DR/Picc.meant it couldn’t travel east, think it went the next evening on a special notice.

If my memory is correct think two of the units that went to Northumberland Pk via Stratford were 3009 & 3011.

How would that have even be possible. Why would they have gone across Leyton to deliver a train to Northumberland Park. Also was there ever a physical connection between the mainline BR at Northumberland Park to the Victoria line depot. Yes there was a BR connection to Northumberland Victoria Line depot, this was when the depot was a building site . The connection wasn’t removed till 67TS could be transferred via Piccadilly Line.

72 TS is fitted with wheel spin relays which sometimes operate in wet weather esp if the T/Op has the train in acceleration rate 2 rather than 1.

The normal setting of the points was from the BR side, you could tell when an EB Central was coming by the points throwing. The first couple of 67TS trains got to Northumberland Pk Depot that way between battery locos.

Maybe I’ve missed something, noticed the Richmond service is reversing at Whitechapel, thought the reversing facility was removed when it was made a two platform station.
