That's happened here in Stockholm once aswell! The contractors were drilling for mountain heat(is that right?) and their drill was struck by the first car of a train.

Straying very much off topic really, but isn't Covent Garden said to be haunted because of it's depth and the strange noises emitting in the 160+ feet between street and platform level, though there is an accompanying story too which probably whips the fear up when the two combine. Yes it is. The "Covent Garden ghost" is said to be an elderly man walking around the station(i don't know why) dressed in oldfashioned clothes and he allways dissapears when you're not looking at him. Atleast that's what i heard.

Hmm. I wonder if any passenger who's gone through the loop has seen "the ghost"? ;D I found once found a spare king pin in the depot. As I knew I was going round the loop during that shift, and knew that Keith, the Kennington car examiner would be on duty I took it with me, then put out a call for him to meet me. My guard and I fiddled around in the SB platform to be reasonably sure that we would have a clear run round the loop. Doing about 25 MPH round there I innocently gave to king pin to Keith and told him it had come out of that little trap door in the floor, just behind the cab. His face was a real picture. I believe he had to change his underwear once he got off the train. All good fun in those days. lol

I am pretty sure only fully red cabs will lead a passenger train. Some 'non-red' middle cabs are capable of being used out on the line, but are likely to be missing the level of safety/communication equipment required for a passenger service. However on NR rails the agreement between LU and NR is that a red front is displayed (as a dispensation for the all yellow normally required). I think the red/white cab in that picture will be to satisfy the requirement if that cab was to lead a stock move... Yes that sounds right. The non red cabs don't tend to have a number of features such as door controls, connect radio equipment etc and cannot be used to lead a passenger service. The red fronts on the 72s are for NR use, but still not in pax service. I see. Thanks guys.

Not 100% sure where this belongs, but has a middle cab ever been the leading cab in service? And are there any pics of it?

I saw something on Youtube from New York where they had found some old 19th century rail tunnels, and what was insode the tunnels? And old steam loco from the Long Island Railroad, i think it was.
I also heard something about a man hwo found an old steam loco buried in his back garden. That was also in the USA.

Ok. Well, If they had to remove the wreckage, then it does'nt make any since. But still, why brick up the tunnel?
And thanks for the tip. Will do.

I just heard the rumor that two of the cars involved in the Moorgate crash are bricked up in the southbound tunnel. On the site i read it, the author says that there is a concrete plug, that you can climb over, and that there is no evidence of anything buried underneath. www.abandonedstations.org.uk/Drayton_Park_station.htmlDoes anyone know anything else? Is there the slightest bit of truth in the story? If there is'nt, why would the plug be there? Why where the current carrying rails removed?
