I've had the issue when using Oyster PAYG a while back. When approaching the time cap I have popped out to reset the timer, but the system didn't recognise this; the resolution I found was to go out, buy a drink from a shop, top up by a small amount, then re-enter.
The system usually corrected these, but if not I could ring up the helpline, explain that I had some brief business outside the station, and they would then make the correction.

I suspect the trains will be continuing out of service in the new CBTC area, it is just the passenger service that is suspended.

Maybe the worksite wasn't exactly where you were looking?
With about three sleepers per yard that means about 1⅛ could have been fully re-sleepered. If they did both tracks at once (perhaps because the drainage had damaged the sleepers on both lines) then that's only just over ½mile.

Insert the URL of the image between img tags.
To create an img tag put the letters "img" inside square brackets before the link, then "/img" after the link.
Forth party apps may host your image for you.

Anyway, perhaps it's best we get back on topic please?

My local station has two analogue clocks plus a digital clock at the bottom of the departure board.
All three display different times.

No-one ever fell out of the subsurface trains when they had hand operated sliding doors that were sometimes left open when between stations. Are you sure about that? Can you prove it? I suspect people did, but the safety culture at the time was "hmm ah well."

"Pull-forward" seems to be 'newspeak' for doing bits of a project that are not being delayed and can be done independently of the bits that are delayed. Appearing more widely across various projects recently. Of course it doesn't usually mean they are pulled forward, just much less delayed.
Bring forward would be a better term. If you can push something back, surely the opposite is to pull it forward? I'd expect something pulled forward to be completed earlier than originally planned.

Edit: forgot to add, there used to be a rule that images on here should not be greater than 800 pixels wide, so you'd need to edit your pic to that size before posting on eg Flickr and then linking to it. However I can't seem to find that rule now.(My bold) That rule was removed a little while back when the forum software was upgraded. Previously images were rendered truly so a wide image could create horizontal scrolling, however the current version of the forum software resizes images to match the device you are viewing on so the rule was removed.

I'm sure there's somewhere on Merseyrail that this still exists. I think it's one of a bank of two rather than one in three, but it's deffo that - an escalator with stairs in rather than moving steps.

Away from the core topic, but still slightly relevant. There are plans in Liverpool to reopen Liverpool St James station. Part of the plans involved a public consultation around the name, many were concerned about potential confusion between Liverpool St James and Liverpool James St; as a result the reopened station will be named to match the the upcoming district in which it will sit Liverpool Baltic

AIUI the necessary positioning moves can be made during Engineering Hours and/or a Possession.
Edit to add: I suspect this is why the ticket prices are, not cheap.

I understand the arrangement at Finsbury Park was that the signal could not clear towards Drayton Park if the train had failed the tripcock test. It's odd that this is what I'd expect, yet the LU standard allows the signal to clear.

Quite. I think we have given plenty of exposure to both sides of the argument, let us now leave it to LU and the Union(s) to find the middle ground.

Exactly, just like oil tanks are in a bund which has a capacity greater than the tank - in the case the apron is to prevent contamination of the ground (and watercourses) with raw sewage.

Perhaps there is a clue here. Passengers were on the train for 130mins before recovery back to Chalfont. The service has already been up the spout for over two hours, propelling a duff unit all the way to Amwrsham and then shunting it into a siding would have just screwed things even more. I suspect it was dumped on the branch simply to get it out of the way quickly so the rest of the service could then be recovered.

Define short train ? e.g. If 3/4 car generally is defined as "short train", or, specifically less than 8car 1992 stock, then surely Waterloo & City is in this thread somewhere ? I'd say a short train is one that is shorter than what's usually operated. So Central is normally 8cars, this 4car would be short. W&C usually operates as 4car, so something like 2car (though this isn't technically possible) would be a short train.

That's how the game works, there are usually several red herrings; hence my comment about eight parks!
