I have to say the JLE track is the noisest I've found. The Central between Stratford and Leyton (tunnel part) isn't far off that either. The Heathrow loop is also a complete racket, another modern (in LU terms) section...

It can get really noisey on the Jubilee line extension too, despite it being smooth. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the larger tunnels may have the effect of amplifying the noise more...

It would be ideal, if the escalator shafts didnt cut through the lift shafts Something about forward planning... *-) I'm getting my information from Doug Rose's 'tiles of the unexpected' book, which shows a station diagram for every Yerkes station. At South Kensington it shows that the lifts are unobstructed, the escalator shaft being slightly south of them... Either the book is wrong or you are!

It leads to the disused lift shafts, South Kensington used lifts until it was rebuilt for escalators in the seventies. IMO they should be reinstated for step-free access, as they lead directly to both platform levels and directly to the old disused ticket hall, which should be opened again!

If it were to happen, there should be an obligation to provide good service including trains stopping at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
And regarding signalling, it just complicates it more, LU needs less complication!

Okay, maybe my point about it not being in London was a bit unreasonable, but I still stick to what I said, simpler routes are more reliable, just look at the Northern and District lines! And track-sharing should also be phased about, especially when ATO is coming to the met. Are passengers really bothered about direct routes into the city? Especially when they can easily swap platforms at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

That was the plan for cross rail! I don't think many Amersham branch users would want just the Chiltern services-especially the cost! It's silly though, sharing track with mainline trains, especially when it's going to be ATO not long from now. The service is not even that good, and it's not even in London, I don't see why they are so special to deserve a metro service when they are way out in the outskirts when some in south London barely have that.

They are nice trains but they're outdated, we can't have them forever.
As a side note, I think the Amersham branch should be given to Chiltern, the Met can use the slow lines from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Watford (which should go to Watford Junction and meet up with the Bakerloo line, but thats another story altogether)

The costs of making the Central line at Bank accessible must be astronomical - you'd need to rebuild the entire platforms. Hence the 'reasonable' bit. What about a ramp? Tell rush hour commuters that they have to make space or they'll be chucked off! I'm sure they could design something that would allow a platform big enough to accomodate a wheelchair to remain horizontal when moving down an escalator, it's not beyond the realms of possibility... A bunch of Stana Stairlifts for the stairs can do the rest.

A bloke at the new King's Cross Thameslink station told me that I could use my Oyster card on Thameslink, yet there was nowhere to touch out at Cricklewood...

How were the recordings for LU trains done now that they've sacked Emma Clarke? It's certainly her who announces "Change for the Northern line, and London Overground" at Euston. Did they just get her to do them and then sack her?

The first one is the old style in-car maps that are on many Victoria line cars, and on many Northern line cars too. Notice the absence of wheelchair signs?

The tunnels were extended in that station in the 30s I think, since the original running tunnels were close together, the two station bores overlap and are supported by columns in the centre, much like some Moscow Metro stations...

If i'm right, they are driven by a conductor and are not automatic, what if the driver were to go off course, would the pantograph come off the electrical wire?
Sorry if it's not clear, I can't think of any other way of putting it!
Another question I had was if you had any pictures of Moscow's rail terminals? Do they have the grandeur of the Metro?
