District Line services started (or re-started?) 12 Sep 1932 Hmmm.... Right lines, right date, but it doesn't quite match the answer....

I'm quite surprised there isn't a thread yet about this, perhaps no-one is interested? The vast majority of the membership here is male. Westfield Stratford City is a shopping centre. Exactly!! Couldn't have put it better myself. I'll happily go shopping with the wife if I get to sit in Wetherspoons while she trails around endless shops looking at a million items, emptying the bank account while she's at it. It becomes a competition, bet I can empty it faster in the boozer! Anyhow, as I'm not allowed to go to pubs, she doesn't get to go on shopping sprees.

If any of you were affected by the severe delays today to some Chiltern Line services north of Leamington caused by a fire on Freightliner service..... I'm very, very, very, very sorry! Whoops! Naturally nobody will mention this at the Christmas meet ;D ;D

That about covers something I was on about in the chat area (Please apply if you aren't subscribed here to the chat bit).... Anyhow, the authorities always manage to find a way around absolutely anything, if they don't get it their way, it'll be a dispute, and it'll sit around for the next million years until someone decides which path to take at the least expense to get the result they wanted in the first place, to then dispute again. Meanwhile on the merry-go-round....

Why is the Piccadilly so cool according to the diagram? I always find that compared with the other deep levels lines, it is quite cool. It's marked the area around Holborn, which again never seem that warm to me.

When you did finally get on the train was it very fast? Have you got an obsession with speed?

Line speed higher outside tunnels. It's 45 mph. 1972s seem to struggle to reach it. 378s are faster on that stretch. I'd have expected it to be higher in the pipes I remember asking about it one time, and the answer came back that the pipe sections were safer as less trespassers etc would be likely to be in the way. That said, the Bakerloo always seemed "slow" to me, or are other lines just faster?

There's a video knocking around on youtube with someone recording the temperature as an 09 train pulled into a station on the Victoria - I'll have a look a bit later for that.

Phil mentioned these when I found the similar version for the Picc area, so apologies if you've seen this before, but the DLL areas are under my eyes, and gems like these are too good not to be viewed!

Part of a series, "Picc past and present" ditto "Northern...." and Central...". I have copies of all three and they're still quite good though getting old now.... You may have someone clinging onto your leg at the Christmas meet then!
