Extend the Central Line to Chesham and nix that silly shuttle! (It looks so easy!) Actually, that might double the ridership of the West Ruislip branch... 1) In another year or two, the shuttle is to be abolished in favor of through services from Chesham to London. Two of the four tphs ex-Amersham will be diverted to Chesham. 2)Between West Ruislip and Chesham, what stations would there be? And wouldn't that make for a super-long journey between Chesham and Epping?

Hyde Park Corner--it is near Down Street, where Churchill had HQ during WW2.

Could this have something to do with the reconstruction of either Baker St or Trafalgar Square in the 70s--coinciding with the introduction of the Jubilee line?

Fresh image, probably. Light colours more the rage then. And of course DDA was beginning to make its mark. What is DDA?

I remember seeing those maps as early as 1971. One of them, near the bottom of the lifts at Lancaster Gate, even had the "lines" displayed as a spiral.

Warren Street - Euston Square is rumoured to at one time have had an interchange passage, either way it is still a valid out of system interchange, and a damn site quicker than Euston - Euston Square. Paddington - Lancaster Gate has been identified in several older transport studies as being worthy of interchange construction, eg London Rail Study 1974. 1) I remember seeing pictures of car maps from the early-mid 60s implying an interchange between Warren St and Euston Square. I also have Underground Guides of that era mentioning this. 2) I never realized how close Paddington and Lancaster Gate are.

For the past week or so, departure boards for these stations show "Piccadilly Train" for all westbound services. Is there a problem with the electronics, as at one time the departure boards for these stations listed the ultimate destination of each train?

How would the use of the depot @ Ickenham affected the Piccadilly service pattern? Would they have still introduced all off-peak M-F services to reverse at Rayners Lane for example?
